Scenic Byways is a mythic fiction audio drama, told in the form of an episodic road trip. Join us as we follow one truck driver on his journey across a fractured America. We’ll hear tales of struggling communities and risen legends once thought long asleep, all set in the beauty of America’s rugged landscapes and national parks. Be sure to buckle up, though. We could be in for a bumpy ride.

Listen closely now, there’s beauty to be shared.

The show, as I assume is intended, is a lot like staring out the passenger side window on a cross country road trip. Which just happens to be the best time to listen to this show. Something I’m doing now. Something I’ve done many times. Something, It’s fair to say, I’ll likely do again.

Or again and again. I’ve listened to every episode 4 or 5 times as of now. I reckon I’ll chalk up a few more before this trip is done. Join me, won’t you?

niche, but driving through american mythos is strangely peaceful

honestly, i love americana mythos. this podcast is a great example of playing with it - there’s just enough magical realism that it isn’t overwhelming. certain figures that popup make me laugh, but it works well within this america. the narrator’s voice is also wonderful, just sounds like a grandpa or uncle, telling you a story. has a warmth to it, and his descriptions are just poetic enough to paint the visuals without getting overly dreamy. i

Really swell

It’s a great story and very focused on a beat that befits the time of it. The narrative is quirky.
