    Jeffery Lee: September 17, 2026

    On September 17, 2026 the State of Alabama is scheduled to execute Jeffery Lee for the murders of Jimmy Ellis and Elaine Thompson. Helen King was shot during the same attack and survived. This episode follows Jimmy’s life and unusual music career as the singer known as Orion, Elaine and Helen, the shootings at Jimmy’s Pawn Shop, the case against Lee, and the 7–5 jury recommendation for life without parole that was later overridden by the trial judge.     LeJames Deshun Norman: September 16, 2026

    On September 16, 2026, the State of Texas is scheduled to execute LeJames Norman for the 2005 murders of 24-year-old Samuel “Sam” Roberts, 18-year-old Tiffani Peacock, and 38-year-old Celso Lopez in Edna, Texas. Norman was one of two men sentenced to death for the murders.     Harold Gene Lucas: September 1, 2026

    On August 14, 1976, sixteen-year-old Anthia Jill Piper was killed outside her family’s home in Bonita Springs, Florida. Harold Gene Lucas was convicted of her murder and sentenced to death. What followed was a legal process that stretched across five decades, including multiple overturned death sentences, resentencing proceedings, and years of state and federal appeals. On September 1, 2026, Lucas is scheduled to be executed by the State of Florida. In the first episode of Scheduled: An American Execution, Kayla Shannon follows the case from the events surrounding Jill’s death through Lucas’s trial, sentencing, appeals, post-conviction proceedings, and the execution date now on the calendar.
