Speaking the Unspeakable: Resentment, Truth, and Radical Honesty with Jon Jennings

What happens when the things we never say begin shaping our relationships? In this episode of Selah – A Deep Pause, we sit down for a conversation with our friend, Jon Jennings, about truth, resentment, and the courage it takes to stop editing ourselves in relationships. Many of us grow up looking outside ourselves for answers. Parents, teachers, religion, and culture often tell us what we should think, feel, and believe so we can be accepted and belong. But what happens when the truth we’ve been searching for isn’t outside of us at all? Jon shares stories from his own life about learning to listen to the wisdom of the body, confronting resentment before it quietly builds, and discovering the freedom that comes from speaking what feels unspeakable. Together we explore how silence can slowly create distance in relationships, how honesty can feel risky but ultimately freeing, and why learning to recognize the signals in our bodies can lead us back to deeper connection with ourselves and others. This conversation is about the courage to speak truth, the humility to listen, and the possibility of meeting each other more fully when we stop pretending everything is fine. Take a breath. Slow down. And join us for this deep pause. GuestJon Jennings is a self-described solar-powered fun junkie who loves being outside and fully in his body. When he isn’t playing volleyball, pickleball, spikeball, or basketball in the sun, he’s exploring the deeper mysteries of life and spirit. A curious psychonaut, Jon is endlessly interested in the inner landscape of the human experience. His greatest teachers have been his wife of 30 years and their three children. Jon is here to live the full human experience, one day at a time. 🎧 Thank you for joining us for this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause. My Body Knew: The Cost of Quiet

In this episode of Selah, Laura and Krissi explore what happens when your body knows something before your mind is ready to admit it. From childhood conditioning to adult relationships, many of us were trained to override our signals in the name of being polite, spiritual, patient, or “measured.” Over time, that quiet comes at a cost. Not always in lost relationships or outcomes, but in delayed boundaries, second guessing, and erosion of self-trust. Laura shares personal reflections on early marriage, masking, agency, and the moment of “enough.” Together, they unpack what it means to reclaim authority without creating rupture, and how awareness becomes the first step toward alignment. In this conversation:  • What “agency” actually means and how we unconsciously give it away  • The difference between contraction and expansion in the body  • Masking, self-abandonment, and nervous system conditioning  • How to listen without needing to fix or prove  • Simple ways to start noticing your first signal This episode is not about confrontation. It’s about awareness. If something in you leans back, tightens, or expands, that is information. The work is not to overanalyze it. The work is to notice. Laura closes with a prayer for discernment, sovereignty, and the courage to respond when your body speaks. 🎧 Thank you for joining us for this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause. Tales from the Tunnel - What Happens When You’re No Longer Needed in Midlife

What happens when the roles that once defined you start to fall away? In this episode of Selah – A Deep Pause, Laura, Tim, and Krissi explore what most people call a midlife crisis, but what they’ve learned to call The Tunnel. A season where kids are grown, work shifts, identities loosen, and you’re left asking a quieter, more unsettling question: Who am I when no one needs me? They talk honestly about the shift from performance to presence, anger as an invisibility trigger, disassociation and numbing as nervous system relief, and what it means for men to have a safe place to land, with their partner and with other men. This episode is for the men in the tunnel. And for the people who love them. Guest: Tim Deir 🎧 Thank you for joining us for this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause. Reorganizing Relationships - Making Space for What’s New

In this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause, Laura and Krissi explore a tender but powerful theme: reorganizing relationships. Not because anyone is “wrong,” but because something new is asking to be supported. Laura shares what it felt like to move through a season of shedding, where emotions got louder and her body stopped letting her ignore the truth. Together, they talk about sacred reciprocity, the difference between loyalty and self-abandonment, and how relationships can shift by season without needing to become dramatic endings. You’ll hear real talk, relatable humor (yes, menopause makes a cameo), and grounded reflection on questions like: Do I feel ease here, or do I brace? Am I holding onto history, or honoring the present? Is this relationship nourishing me, or quietly draining me? This episode is an invitation to pause before you act, listen before you explain, and let space reveal what’s real. Love can remain, and access can change. You are allowed to make space for what supports who you are becoming. 🎧 Thank you for joining us for this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause. 2025: Ouch!! Didn’t See That Coming - What Worked, What Didn’t, and What We’re Stepping Into

2025 had surprises. Some were beautiful. Some were… OUCH!!! In this episode, Laura and Tim reflect on what this year revealed, what actually worked, what didn’t, and the patterns that kept showing up until they finally landed. We talk about learning to catch triggers sooner, listening without fixing, setting boundaries without guilt, and why “just because I can doesn’t mean I should” became a turning point. You’ll also hear how a solo trip to Portugal became a powerful moment of trust, freedom, and identity shift, plus what it looked like to choose “us” over fix-it energy when life got loud. Then we look ahead to 2026 with a theme of movement and momentum, and Laura’s word for the year: reap - receiving what you’ve planted and letting it be enough. We close with a reflection and prayer for anyone moving from shedding into what’s next. 🎧 Thank you for joining us for this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause. In the final episode of 2025 - and the closing chapter of Season One - Laura and Krissi welcome Danielle for a deeply honest conversation about grief as initiation, shedding old identities, and finding the courage to come home to ourselves. Framed by 2025 as the year of shedding - the Year of the Snake, a time of dissolving illusions and accelerated transformation - this episode follows Danielle’s descent after losing her best friend, Jessi. Holiday Traditions-The Pattern of Obligation (and Itchy Armpits!!)

Hormones and the holidays🦃… what could possibly go wrong? In this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause, Laura and Krissi get honest about what happens when midlife hormone shifts collide with family traditions, expectations, and “be pleasant and fine” energy. Laura shares the story of returning from a three-and-a-half-week honeymoon cocoon feeling soft, grounded, and in love, only to crash hard once “real life” and old stressors rushed back in. From itchy armpits to night peeing to zero give-a-shit for poor Tim, she realizes her body is not just reacting, it is telling the truth. Together they explore:     💫 How perimenopause and menopause change the way stress lands in the body     💫  Why family holidays can feel like a contract you never consciously signed    💫  The grief of outgrowing old roles, and the freedom that comes when you finally say “enough”    💫  The difference between true gratitude and self-abandonment    💫  How choosing to pause, rest, and listen can quietly rewrite patterns for the next generation If you have ever pulled up to a holiday gathering with a casserole in your lap and a knot in your throat, this conversation is your permission slip to do it differently. At the end, Krissi offers three practical invitations for this season: Create a “no list” before the holiday and choose at least one thing you are not doing this year.Build in one simple body anchor like stepping outside for a breath, feeling the sun on your face, or putting a hand on your heart before you say yes.Reclaim one ritual as your own so the day includes you, not just your roles.May this episode be a balm for the part of you that is tired of performing and ready to belong to yourself first. 🎧 Thank you for joining us for this episode of Selah: A Deep Pause.
