No one is really self-made! We don’t get to where we end up alone. We’ve all had folks in our journey who’ve helped us achieve our success. Many times those folks don’t even know the impact they’ve had. So, in honor of the fellow business owners in your life that had an impact on you becoming the person you are today, the Self-Made Is A Myth movement celebrates them.

    Don Windler was born in Indiana and worked construction during the summers while in high school. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering in 1984 from Purdue, he started working as a Field Engineer for a GC in Washington DC building federal office buildings downtown. During this time he met Ginny, his wife of 40 years. Together, they have 4 kids and 4 grandkids with another on the way. He spent 11 years between Washington DC and North Carolina supervising and managing the construction of commercial buildings.  He started WINCO Construction Company in 1995 back in Lafayette Indiana with the goal of creating a concrete construction company that catered to the commercial, industrial and agricultural markets. By 1997, he saw a need for concrete pumping and started Tipp-Mont Concrete Pumping. Today, Tipp-Mont has a fleet that can serve any project from line pumps to 47 Meter pumps and a Telebelt. WINCO specializes in concrete construction and serves Central and NW Indiana. The projects vary from dairies to multi-story structural buidlings to Tilt Up storage facilities.     Kevin Hunt began his career at Shiel Sexton in 1989 as a summer field laborer. He earned a degree from Purdue University and went on to work in a number of departments within the firm including estimating, project management, business development preconstruction and operations. Kevin was promoted to the executive group of Shiel Sexton before the age of 35. He has been instrumental in developing new markets and new clients throughout his career. As CEO and president, Kevin is responsible for the management of operations, implementation of corporate strategies, presiding over the Shiel Sexton family of companies including:   Shiel Sexton Company, Inc. (Construction Management) Anova Technical Services (Professional Services) Bam Rents S3 - Shiel Sexton Services (Interior Renovations and Facility Maintenance Engineered Facades, LLC Shiel Sexton Concrete (Concrete and Self Performance) Facilities Compliance Services, LLC (Fire Stopping Services)   Kevin has taken an active leadership role in numerous company initiatives including the development and implementation of Shiel Sexton’s group focused business model, restructuring of the company’s safety and quality programs, and the transition to 100% employee-ownership through the establishment of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Kevin is a key element in making certain Shiel Sexton grows responsibly and ethically in an extremely competitive marketplace.     Luke Walter was raised and born in Northern Indiana near Notre Dame university. Currently is still single and very focused on his career, but looking for a life partner to grow and expand with. He comes from a large family who is heavy in business in many different industries. Giving Luke an expanded inside knowledge of different industries cross comparing to what works best in the Piano Industry. He is currently 28 years old and has worked in every aspect of the Piano industry. From sales, restoration, manufacturing, design, and piano moving he has worked in all of these divisions and even led the charge in most. He is a very motivated starter/action taker who is a calculated team creator understanding what his primary skills are, but also what he lacks in and is very honest about what those are. Passionate about surrounding himself with people who are better than him in skills needed to grow and succeed past what he could do alone. Currently he is leading the charge on the international growth of Walter Piano Group and taking the marketing to the next level along with managing the manufacturing and licensing deals. He is also currently the lead on retail, restoration, manufacturing sales. He began his career at the University of Notre Dame before stepping into the world of software and entrepreneurship in 2008. Not long after, the company he co-founded was acquired by GitHub as their first acquisition, where John spent the next seven years helping scale one of the most important developer platforms in the world. Today, John is the owner of several SaaS companies. He runs https://fireside.fm, a podcast hosting and analytics platform used by creators around the globe, Box Out Sports, which helps schools and colleges promote their athletic programs through custom graphics, and Flipper Cloud, a feature-flagging service that enables teams to safely release software. He is also part of the team behind Momentum Entrepreneurship Hub in South Bend, which provides coworking space, offices and resources for local founders.
