EP 229: Petty Beaches Make System Breaches

Welcome to the second annual Florida February, where the stories get dumber, the dramatics get louder, and our sound-FX machine is working overtime. Trevin falls for another brilliant marketing trap courtesy of Lil Dicky’s Buzzballs commercials and arrives with a “celebratory” beverage. Amanda dresses up for a fancy work New Year party, only to crash in her makeup and wake up with her acne in full goblin mode. We kick things off with Killer Facts from the Sunshine State. Amanda spotlights the adorable oddity of the world’s smallest police station in Carrabelle, Florida, while Trevin heads to Quincy, where Pat Munroe’s Coca-Cola hunch turned a tiny town into a community of soda millionaires. Our first story dives into the Wreck Bar in Fort Lauderdale, home to performing mermaids Whitney Fair and Mia Mellies. Their years-long rivalry involves nudity, alleged witchcraft, and multiple visits from law enforcement. You may have seen this case on HBO’s It’s Florida, Man—but you’ve never heard it like this. And yes, we’ve got an update. Then Trevin takes us to St. Petersburg and the offices of 1-800Accountant, where a new HR director’s petty streak and serious attitude problem spiral into an unauthorized access nightmare that threatens the entire company. Two Florida stories, one shared theme: system breaches fueled by pure pettiness. So hack into your podcast app of choice and dive in. Welcome to Florida. 2. EP 228: We Don’t Talk About Politics

    JAN 28

EP 228: We Don’t Talk About Politics

The final episode of Dry January is here, and just like last year, we’re ending it with an honest conversation instead of a story. During a break from writing petty crime, Trevin spent time reflecting on something he was raised to avoid: politics. Growing up in a polite, Midwestern family, he learned early that talking about politics was seen as divisive, impolite, and unnecessary — a rule meant to keep the peace. But over time, that silence came with consequences. That reflection turned into two personal essays — We Don’t Talk About Politics and Why We Don’t Talk About Politics — exploring how avoidance shapes families, relationships, identity, and power. The pieces examine how silence can make people vulnerable to misinformation, how overcomplication and busyness discourage engagement, and how institutions benefit when everyday people are taught that understanding politics is “for someone smarter.” In this episode, Trevin and Amanda sit down to unpack those ideas together. They talk about Amanda’s early experiences with politics, how each of them was taught to engage (or disengage), and how avoiding difficult conversations doesn’t make problems disappear — it just lets someone else speak for you. They also explore how this silence affects more than just families. When any subject is treated as shameful or off-limits — politics, money, masculinity, mental health — people are left unprepared to protect themselves, their relationships, and their futures. This isn’t a debate episode. It’s a conversation about communication, power, and what happens when “keeping the peace” costs us our voices. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, unqualified, or afraid to speak up because you assumed everyone else had it figured out — this one’s for you. Let’s talk about politics. https://medium.com/@fiestamaiden/we-dont-talk-about-politics-856dc0a076d1 https://medium.com/@fiestamaiden/why-we-dont-talk-about-politics-e2686d89dba5 Join our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/livelaughlarcenydoomedcrew For ad-free episodes and lots of other bonus content, join our Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/LiveLaughLarceny Check out our website: Here  Follow us on Instagram: Here  Follow us on Facebook: Here  Follow us on TikTok: Here  Follow us on Twitter: Here   If you have a crime you'd like to hear on our show OR have a personal petty story, email us at livelaughlarceny@gmail.com or send us a DM on any of our socials! 3. EP 227: Questions From the Doomed Crew

EP 227: Questions From the Doomed Crew

Dry January continues as the Live, Laugh, Larceny crew opens the floor to listener questions for our most behind-the-scenes episode yet. Trevin comes clean about a secret he’s been sitting on—and the dilemma that comes with committing to yet another creative project. Hear about his new concept album goal, why Big Sexy Fear might become the greatest album of all time, and the terrifying reality of publicly announcing creative ambition. Amanda shares a betrayal so cruel it can only be described as culinary malpractice. This isn’t about missing ketchup. This is about a full order of Chinese food arriving with sweet and sour chicken… and no sauce. RIP to the saucy queen. Trevin finally brings in two long-forgotten listener dilemmas, including misunderstanding “viewer discretion advised” as a kid and receiving a deeply unsettling DM from a Facebook profile that may—or may not—be stalking him. Then it’s time for questions from the Doomed Crew. Listener Tawny officially challenges Papa Dennis to appear on Live, Laugh, Larceny. But will he accept? We also dive into the funniest and most memorable moments from Trevin and Amanda’s real-life friendship: – Amanda being at her absolute funniest during her first pregnancy – Trevin feeling a baby kick – Amanda’s karaoke strategy (and survival tactics) A loaded question about pets leads to stories about Amanda’s collies, Reptar and Yoshi, while Trevin walks through the full timeline of his cats—Freddy, Boots, and Harvey—including a moment where Boots’ curiosity almost lived up to the phrase “killed the cat.” Plus: Who would play the hosts in a Hollywood adaptation of Live, Laugh, Larceny? What do we actually hope listeners get from the show, beyond entertainment? Are there petty crimes we’ll never admit to on the podcast? Trevin shares a personal story that could someday become a trilogy, and we close with an honest conversation about how we’re all coping during… whatever this era is. Finally, we revisit Amanda’s favorite story of 2025 and dive into why it earned the top spot. 5. 2025 Petties Award Show - Part 1

    JAN 7

    2025 Petties Award Show - Part 1

It’s a new year, which means it’s time to emotionally process one of the worst years of our lives… by celebrating the best crimes of 2025. Before the awards begin, Trevin and Amanda ease back into things with fresh dilemmas after not seeing each other for a while. Trevin recounts a Christmas mishap involving his new rescue pup, Sammy—starting with her epic glow-up since adoption and ending with a Christmas morning escape that sparks a long, stressful search. Amanda shares her own holiday chaos, when the infamous 2025 Christmas sickness wiped out her entire family and turned their break into an extended quarantine. Then it’s time for the first five categories of the 2025 Petties Awards. Who delivered the most dreadful dilemma of the year? What were each host’s most killer facts? Trevin pulls back the curtain on how he produces the show, including a behind-the-scenes look at the first major audio mistake in nearly five years of Live, Laugh, Larceny. Plus, the award for Best Naked Criminal leads to an unsettling realization: was 2025… the least sexy year on record? To close things out, Trevin revisits his favorite story of 2025, listening back with Amanda and breaking down why it stuck with him. Was it the man who faked his own death? Zin Zhang and the infamous cold chicken? Or the Florida boy who called the cops to ask why they hadn’t found him yet? Tune in for Part 1 of the 2025 Petties, then come back next week for the remaining categories and Amanda’s favorite story of the year. Bring on the Petties—because 2026 already has plenty of criminals waiting in the wings. PETTY REWIND - EP 150: Petty or Paranormal (feat. And That’s Why We Drink)

The crew is here—and they brought friends. This week, Amanda and Trevin are joined by Em Schulz and Christine Schiefer, the hosts of the hit paranormal and true crime comedy podcast And That’s Why We Drink, for an all-star crossover episode full of petty crimes, questionable decisions, and maybe a ghost or two. Things kick off with an All-Star Dilemmas segment. Trevin recounts a run-in with an angry bald man in Kansas City traffic—and the deeply petty revenge that followed. Amanda’s past comes back to haunt her when her daughter rescues a pair of heart-shaped nipple pasties from the trash and proudly adds them to a wall mural. Christine becomes convinced Amanda’s daughter Lyla may secretly be BANKSY. Em and Christine bring their own dilemmas to the table. Em faces the ultimate horror: a cruise with their mom and husband… all while sharing a room. Christine opens up about a therapist-recommended book, The Untethered Soul, and how, with the help of an edible, she finally met her inner voice—only to discover it is extremely annoying. Then, the crew debuts an original game created just for ATWWD: Petty or Paranormal. Em and Christine must decide whether a series of increasingly bizarre scenarios were caused by supernatural forces or extremely petty criminals. Topics include Mike Myers on a beach, dirty-talking ghosts, a grudge held beyond the grave, warnings from a time traveler, and attempting to marry a ghost in international waters. To close things out, Em confesses to a petty past involving urban exploring (or, as police might call it, breaking and entering). Christine attempts to incriminate Em through shared memories—only to accidentally point the finger back at herself—before telling an original story. Finally, Christine shares her own personal petty crime tale: The Coat Room Caper. In this kindergarten-era revenge story, a young Christine targets her classmates—especially one taller, more popular girl—proving that a life of petty crime can begin with something as simple as misplaced backpacks. 12/25/2025

EP 226: Deck the Halls & Cross the Line

’Tis the season—and things are about to get decked. In this Christmas special episode of Live, Laugh, Larceny, Trevin witnesses capitalism for kids firsthand while volunteering with Junior Achievement BizTown, the company shaping young business minds. Even a Playskool-level version of the American economy somehow manages to be bleak. Meanwhile, Amanda gives her legs their first winter shave… with a weed whacker, and the crew dives into listener dilemmas. From a long-awaited “paint your spouse” anniversary date (with video evidence), to rude coworkers and seasonal body pains, it’s the season of giving—and we’re giving you a platform to complain. The crew also brings back the Naughty List, each revealing their personal picks for 2025. High cholesterol, vet offices, sausage patties, and the government all make appearances. Hear who made the list—and why they’re so naughty. For stories, Trevin takes us to Hanes Mall in North Carolina, where Elsie Brooks, Selma Brooks, and Christina MacDonald just want to take their kids to see Santa. But a strict elf, Shannon Athena Watkins, has rules—and she expects them to be followed. Will this end in a Christmas miracle… or simple assault? Amanda follows with the long, storied life of Carol Christensen, a retired circus performer and stunt woman turned spreader of joy. With her biggest events behind her, she discovers that withholding joy from a police officer can still earn you a ride to the station. 8. EP 225: Justin Fixes Christmas (Feat. Justin of Generation WHY)

EP 225: Justin Fixes Christmas (Feat. Justin of Generation WHY)

This Christmas special is coming at you with three hos, as we’re joined by one of the original true crime podcasters. Justin Evans from Generation WHY stops by to reminisce about his early podcasting days, survive a round of unhinged holiday dilemmas, and—most importantly—fix Christmas once and for all. But first: dilemmas.Trevin reveals a dirty little corporate secret after buying men’s “pull-up” pants on clearance and wearing them to work—drawstring and all. Amanda gives her Santa house a red light bulb, accidentally turning her festive décor into something vaguely satanic. And Justin visits an ear, nose, and throat doctor, only to leave feeling violated, furious, and emotionally prepared for revenge. Then, things get serious. 🎄 Justin Fixes Christmas Christmas didn’t used to be this sanitized. Long before it became a hyper-profitable, aggressively cheerful machine, the winter holiday was packed with strange, feral, and genuinely cool traditions pulled from cultures across the world. In this original game, Justin is given the rare opportunity to replace modern Christmas staples with forgotten—or deeply questionable—alternatives. Across six core pillars of Christmas, Justin must answer trivia rooted in real holiday history, folklore, and chaos. Replace four or more pillars and he officially Fixes Christmas, creating a new holiday in his image: Justinmas. Fail, and Christmas remains broken forever… which feels fair. Santa & Christmas Mascots — featuring the Yule Goat, Krampus, and other unsettling holiday figures Decorations — including cursed spiders, suspicious pickles, and traditions no one can fully explain Music & Anthems — spanning Rage Against the Machine, Miley Cyrus, and heavy metal Christmas covers recorded by Christopher Lee Movies & Specials — from Victorian-era Christmas ghost stories to a deep dive on A Christmas Story and its far darker, largely forgotten sequel Food Traditions — including international customs involving live animals temporarily housed in bathtubs before becoming Christmas dinner The Spirit of Christmas — from chaotic bar crawls to alternative interpretations of what the holiday is actually supposed to mean If Justin wins, we debut a Justinmas Mad Lib to celebrate his newly fixed holiday. If he loses, Christmas stays broken—and we underscored that failure with traditional Christmas music played gently beneath fart noises.
