You Can’t Bribe Hashem | Balak 4th Aliyah and Daily Learning - 9 Tammuz 5786

In today’s Live With the Times daily Torah class, we learn the 4th aliyah of Parshat Balak and the beginning of Bilaam’s attempted curse of Am Yisrael.Balak brings Bilaam to curse the Jewish people, and Bilaam tries to impress Hashem with seven altars, bulls, and rams. But the deeper lesson is clear: you cannot bribe Hashem. You can bring offerings, say the right words, or try to force a result — but what Hashem wants is truth, humility, teshuva, and relationship. We explore how Bilaam wanted the reward of holiness without living a holy life. He wanted to die like the righteous but not live like the righteous. This connects directly to our own avodat Hashem: when things are not going our way, the answer is not to manipulate, bargain, or “buy” our way into blessing. The answer is to return to Hashem, become humble, strengthen bitachon, and rebuild the connection. This class also includes Rebbe Nachman’s teachings on Bilaam, curses, impurity, Aram, hitbodedut, the power of each step toward a mitzvah, and the greatness of even a Jew who has fallen but can still return. We also learn Kitzur Shulchan Aruch Siman 80:1–2 on prohibited activities on Shabbos, including reading by candlelight, tilting a lamp, extinguishing, kindling, and opening doors or windows near a flame. Then we continue in Shaar HaBitachon with the third advantage of bitachon over alchemy, and finish with Rav Shalom Arush’s “I’m In Your Hands” on the manna and trusting Hashem for livelihood. This daily Torah class is for anyone looking to grow in emunah, bitachon, teshuva, and practical avodat Hashem.💧 Protect Your Home’s Water with Safer H2OThe water you drink, cook with, bathe in, and give to your family matters.Safer H2O helps homeowners improve their water with premium filtration systems designed for modern living — including the Nexxus Smart Whole-Home Water Filtration System, a smart, modular system that helps filter the water throughout your home and alerts you when it’s time for service or replacement. With smart monitoring, customized filter packs, and whole-home protection, Nexxus is built to help you feel more confident about the water coming into your house.👉 Learn more or get your water filtration solution at http://saferh2o.com🎧 Bring Mamash Tov to Your Next SimchaLooking for a Jewish female DJ who brings real energy, joy, and soul to your event?DJ Mamash Tov creates unforgettable music experiences for Jewish weddings, bat mitzvahs, women-only events, private parties, kosher festivals, and community celebrations. Are You Ignoring Hashems Warnings? | Daily Learning - 8 Tammuz 5786: Balaak 3rd Aliyah

In today’s Live With the Times daily Torah class, we learn the 3rd aliyah of Parshat Balak and the powerful story of Bilaam, Balak, the angel of Hashem, and the talking donkey. Bilaam wanted to continue on a path that was against Hashem’s will. His donkey saw the angel blocking the way, but Bilaam was so focused on his own desire for honor and reward that he could not see the warning. Even when the donkey’s mouth opened and she spoke, Bilaam still kept pushing forward. The lesson is deeply practical: sometimes Hashem slows us down, blocks the road, or makes something difficult because the path itself is crooked. But when we want something badly enough, we may ignore the signs, get angry at the messenger, and keep forcing our way forward. In this class, we connect the aliyah of the day with teachings from Rebbe Nachman of Breslov on Bilaam, free will, Klipat Noga, speech, immorality, Shalosh Regalim, and guarding the brit. We also learn two halachot from Kitzur Shulchan Aruch Siman 80:5–6 on prohibited activities on Shabbos, including keeping food warm and rinsing salty foods. Then we continue in Shaar HaBitachon, exploring the second advantage of bitachon over alchemy, and finish with Rav Shalom Arush’s “I’m In Your Hands” on living with real bitachon. This daily Torah class is for anyone looking to grow in emunah, bitachon, halacha, Breslov teachings, Rebbe Nachman, Parshat Balak, Shabbos observance, and practical avodat Hashem. Topics covered:Parshat Balak, Bilaam and the donkey, Balak, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, Likutei Moharan, Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, Shabbos halacha, Shaar HaBitachon, Rav Shalom Arush, I’m In Your Hands, emunah, bitachon, guarding the brit, free will, Klipat Noga, daily Torah learning, and living with Hashem in real life. Ki Tavo 3rd Aliyah | Who's Job Is It To Make The First Move?

In this shiur, Maynard Breslow explores the profound relationship advice embedded in the short third Aliyah of Ki Tavo. The text describes a mutual affirmation: we declare Hashem is our God, and Hashem declares we are His treasured people. However, the order is crucial. The Torah states that we make the first move, affirming our commitment before Hashem reciprocates. Drawing a powerful parallel to our own relationships and the theme of Elul ("Ani l'dodi v'dodi li" - I am for my beloved, and my beloved is for me), Maynard explains that this sequence is a blueprint for healthy connection. We are taught not to wait for the other person to initiate love, apologies, or appreciation. By taking the first step and proactively giving love, we break the destructive habit of "keeping score" and become conduits for spiritual flow, creating harmony (Tiferet) in our lives. Key Takeaways 1. Be the First to Affirm Your Love. The Torah purposefully states that we affirm Hashem before He affirms us. This teaches a fundamental lesson for all relationships: don't wait for the other person to make the first move. Take the initiative to express your love, appreciation, and commitment, creating a positive cycle of connection. 2. Stop Keeping Score and Start Giving. Healthy relationships wither when we get caught up in who did what last. The principle of "Ani l'dodi" (I am for my beloved) means our primary focus should be on our own actions of giving. When both people are racing to give love to the other, the relationship flourishes. 3. Initiating Love Creates Spiritual Flow. As in the previous Aliyah, the act of giving makes you a conduit for divine blessing. When you initiate love, you are acting from a place of Chesed (loving-kindness) and bringing it into the world. This creates a state of harmony (Tiferet) and allows more spiritual and material goodness to flow through you and into your life.

Ki Tavo 2nd Aliyah | The Ultimate Segulah to Increasing Wealth

In this episode, Maynard Breslow dives into the second Aliyah of Parshat Ki Tavo to uncover the Torah's secret to generating wealth. The portion discusses the mitzvah of Ma'aser (tithing), where we are commanded to give a tenth of our produce to those in need and then make a declaration to Hashem. But this raises a fundamental question: How can you give charity if you don't have money in the first place? Drawing on deep Kabbalistic and Chassidic teachings, Maynard explains that wealth originates from the spiritual realm of Gevurah (strength and constriction). By itself, this energy can become "stuck." The act of giving charity (tzedakah) introduces the energy of Chesed (mercy and expansion), creating a harmonious "flow" (Tiferet). By giving, we transform ourselves from a dead-end receptacle into a powerful conduit for divine abundance, ensuring that more wealth flows through us. Key Takeaways 1. Giving Precedes Receiving. The Torah flips the conventional script on wealth. We don't give charity because we are wealthy; we become wealthy because we give charity. The act of giving is the very mechanism that opens the channels for divine flow and abundance to enter our lives. 2. Unlock Wealth by Creating Flow. Money originates from a place of spiritual constriction (Gevurah). When we hoard it, it gets "stuck." The act of giving charity introduces mercy (Chesed), creating harmony (Tiferet) and unlocking a continuous "flow." To receive more, you must first become a conduit for wealth to pass through you to others. 3. Look Down from Your Own "Holy Abode." The Torah asks Hashem to "look down from His holy abode" and bless us. We emulate this by acting as creators in our own right. From our own level of influence—our personal "kingship"—we must "look down" with mercy on those we can help. No matter how little we have, this act of giving makes us partners with Hashem and activates the flow of blessing.

Ki Tavo 1st Aliyah | Gratitude Must Be Expressed With The Mouth

In this week's shiur on Parshat Ki Tavo, I delves into the powerful mitzvah of Bikkurim (bringing the first fruits). The Torah doesn't just command us to bring the fruits; it specifies a unique verbal declaration to be made before the Kohen. This declaration recounts the entire journey of the Jewish people—from the suffering in Egypt to the redemption and arrival in the land of Israel. Drawing on the teachings of Rav Haim Kramer, this episode explores why vocalizing our gratitude, for both the good and the seemingly bad, is a fundamental tool for reshaping our reality, breaking negative cycles, and connecting with Hashem on a deeper level. Gratitude Must Be Vocalized. It's not enough to simply feel thankful in your heart. The Torah commands us to recite a specific formula when bringing the first fruits. This teaches that true gratitude requires active, verbal expression. We must use our mouths to declare our thanks to Hashem, making the internal feeling a concrete reality. Embrace the Entire Journey: Thank Hashem for the "Bad" Too. The declaration of the first fruits doesn't just celebrate the harvest; it purposefully recounts the slavery in Egypt ("The Egyptians dealt harshly with us and oppressed us"). This teaches a profound lesson: we must thank Hashem not just for the positive outcomes, but for the struggles and challenges that led to them. The "downs" are an essential prerequisite for the "ups," and acknowledging the entire process is a core part of genuine gratitude. Use Gratitude to Reshape Your Present and Future. By actively thanking Hashem for current challenges, we accomplish two things. First, we break the cycle of negativity that can keep us feeling "down." Second, we express profound faith that an "uplifting" is coming. This practice trains us to maintain a state of happiness and trust, no matter the circumstance. As Maynard puts it, "Our lips can write the checks already," affirming our belief in a positive future and bringing that reality closer
