    Domestic Violence

    In this video, I, sharedmy personal story of surviving domestic violence and emotional abuse. I discussed how the relationship started with flattery and control, and how the abuse escalated over time. I also talked about the cycle of abuse, which includes tension building, incident, reconciliation, and calm. I emphasized that abuse is not just physical but can also be emotional, verbal, sexual, financial, digital, or spiritual. I shared how the abuse affected my physical and mental health, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and self-blame. I also discussed how I eventually escaped the relationship and the challenges I faced in the aftermath. I ended the video by encouraging survivors to break their silence and seek help, and by thanking everyone for listening to my story.

    Hope after Darkness

    I, Melissa, discussed the concept of hope after experiencing darkness. I shared my personal struggles with suicidal thoughts and how hope, even in its smallest form, kept me going. I emphasized that hope is not about ignoring the darkness but about remembering that it's not all there is. I also acknowledged that hope can feel impossible at times, especially during seasons of depression, trauma, or grief. I provided tools to help hold onto hope, such as grounding in the present, creating rituals, collecting reminders, borrowing hope, and speaking to one's future self. I concluded by stating that healing is messy and nonlinear but possible, and that even when hope feels absent, it is still present.

    Anger as Armor

    In this video, I discussed the concept of anger as armor, explaining that it is often used to protect ourselves from deeper pain and is a secondary emotion. I clarified that I am not discussing anger in the context of abuse, but rather how it can be a tool for healing. I also differentiated between healthy and unhealthy anger, emphasizing that the goal is not to eliminate anger, but to learn how to hear, honor, and channel it. I provided tools for working with anger, such as pausing to name it, finding the root of it, and transforming it into a tool for change. I shared my personal experience of healing my relationship with anger and encouraged viewers to listen to their anger and understand what it is protecting them from.

    Inner Child

    I discussed the concept of the inner child and its significance in our lives. I shared my personal experiences of struggling with unmet needs and emotions from my childhood, and how reconnecting with my inner child has helped me heal. I explained that the inner child is not just a metaphor, but a part of us that carries memories, emotions, and unmet needs from our past. I highlighted how an unhealed inner child can manifest in people-pleasing, fear of abandonment, perfectionism, explosive emotions, and shame. I also shared some practices that can help reconnect with our inner child, such as writing a letter to ourselves, looking at childhood photos, playing, and using affirmations. I emphasized that healing is not about erasing the past, but about giving our inner child the love and safety they deserved. I concluded by encouraging my audience to reflect on what their younger self needed to hear and to offer that love and comfort.

    Boundaries

    In this video, I discussed the importance of setting boundaries in our lives, especially for those who have experienced trauma or abuse. I emphasized that boundaries are not walls, but rather a way to protect our time, energy, and emotional well-being. I also shared my personal struggles with setting boundaries and how it has impacted my healing journey. I provided practical tools for saying no without feeling guilty, such as scripting it out, using the broken record technique, and checking in with our body's needs. I also stressed the importance of releasing responsibility for others' reactions to our boundaries and focusing on our own needs. I ended the video by encouraging listeners to reflect on where they need to set boundaries in their own lives.

    Grief

    In this video, I, Melissa, discuss the various forms of grief that people often overlook. I share my personal experience of grieving the mother-daughter relationship I never had and the safety that was taken from me. I emphasize that grief is not limited to funerals and can be experienced in many ways, such as relationship grief, childhood grief, identity grief, dream grief, living grief, and disenfranchised grief. I also highlight the importance of acknowledging and honoring grief, as unacknowledged grief can manifest as anxiety, depression, anger, or exhaustion. I share my journey with grief and how naming it gave me permission to mourn and heal. I provide suggestions on how to begin healing, such as naming the grief, creating personal rituals, sharing with someone safe, using art, and practicing compassion. I conclude by encouraging everyone to allow themselves to mourn and remember that their grief matters.

    Self-Sabotage

    In this video, I discussed self-sabotage, a common issue that many people struggle with. I shared my personal experiences with self-sabotage, including pushing people away and procrastinating on opportunities. I explained that self-sabotage is not about being lazy, weak, or careless, but rather about survival patterns that once kept us safe but now hold us back. I also mentioned that self-sabotage can be sneaky and can manifest in various ways, such as delaying or avoiding things we want, finding ourselves drawn to toxic dynamics, and telling ourselves stories that we're not ready or that something is too good to be true. I provided some strategies to recognize and overcome self-sabotage, such as awareness without shame, tracing back our fears, practicing receiving, and compassionate accountability. I emphasized that healing from self-sabotage is a process that involves noticing, choosing differently, and reminding ourselves that we are worthy of love, peace, and success.
