Shanghai Chronicles is a sometimes brutally honest and sometimes stream-of-consciousness exploration of the issues of our day, especially issues specific to the black community (esp. U.S.). Recent episodes have examined police and racial violence in the U.S. (and the responses to it), snitch "culture" in the hip-hop world, COVID-19, and so much more. And throughout, its host is honest, offering her personal views on things, frequently in the moment, frequently complicated. I don't always agree, but I certainly find myself really thinking about her take on things, and I think that's more important a compliment than anything else. So if you want a dose of pop culture and the news with an honest and "in the culture" view, this show is definitely for you.
