She talks about her acting career, how the school system and other societal conditioning doesn’t benefit individuals and makes standing out from the crowd scary for many people.

She also shares the importance of consistency in your PR and what are the ‘visibility goblins’?

Struggling to be heard in a world built for extroverts with Richard Etienne

Struggling to be heard in a world built for extroverts with Richard Etienne

Businesses, schools and universities will be encouraged to think in-depth about the challenges faced by those who struggle to be heard in a world built for extroverts.

One in three of Britain's population are believed to be introvert but the ‘shy’ personality of an introvert means "added layers of exclusion" for black people both in the workplace and the classroom, according to the man championing the movement: Richard Etienne.

He wants companies, schools and universities to think again about how they can recognise and nurture the talents of those whose personalities are misunderstood and whose skills are all too often overlooked.

In this episode of Share Your Difference, CG founder Steve Randall talks to Richard about life as an introvert and how ethnicity adds another level to potential exclusion.

Richard also shares an insightful view of the way we label people, specifically the often-used BAME tag which lumps all Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic people together as if they are all one group with the same experiences and challenges.

Search online for 'Black Introvert Week UK' and Connect with Richard on social media:
