Share Your Secrets is a podcast by Bounceback Food CIC that celebrates the diversity of food, art and community! Episodes include interviews with the artists and organisations involved in the production of the Secret Dishes From Around the World fundraising cookbook trilogy, insights about community and culture from people in the featured countries and updates from Bounceback’s Community Cookery School team in Manchester as they scale up their fight against food poverty across the UK.

    On the final episode of Series 4 we hear from The Great British Bake Off’s Sandy Docherty who talks about Parkin, Moggy and her recipe book Sandy’s Great Northern Cookbook. Sandy talks about the power of baking, the stories connected to recipes and how food can break down barriers. Plus Duncan Swainsbury, founder of Bounceback Food, talks about Staffordshire Oatcakes, Bounceback’s journey to date and their upcoming 10-year anniversary celebrations.

    This week on Share Your Secrets, host Miriam Rendell speaks to Naomi Thomas and Laura Crowley, who both completed our 2024 Social Enterprise Internship Programme. Naomi tried out the Fidget Pie recipe and Laura perfected the Bedfordshire Clanger! Both share their experiences of the different projects they completed during their time with our Community Cookery School team over the summer.

    This week on Share Your Secrets we chat to Bounceback Food community chef Phoebe Hammett about her food startup RamYum, South Korean cuisine and the South Korean inspired Supper Club she ran with Bounceback earlier in the year. She also shares her top tips for making the recipe Lamb Scouse. Bounceback Food volunteer Katie Jackson, talks about her career in a craft bakery, as a pastry chef and now as a product developer for a cake manufacturer. She also shares her secrets for making a delicious Manchester Tart!

    On the podcast this week we catch up with Bounceback Food's head chef Grant Henderson and hear what he’s been up to with the Community Cookery School team since the last series. Zafar Hussain, a chef from Shababs Balti Restaurant in Birmingham, talks about the history of Shababs, shares his passion for cooking a traditional Balti and his thoughts on making a Phall.

    S3 E2 Tackling the Cost of Living Crisis (Across the UK)

    In the latest episode of Share Your Secrets we hear from people in some of the cities where Bounceback Food CIC have been batch cooking and distributing meals to those most impacted by the cost of living crisis this winter. Host Miriam Rendell talks to Grace Namwanje, a GP social prescribing link worker in Dudley, about how Bounceback Food CIC's outreach work in the West Midlands has supported the development of a weekly cookery class for migrant women and survivors of domestic abuse at Creheart Community Centre. Jo Gordon, director of My Sisters' Kitchen, shares how her social enterprise provides training, employment and sense of belonging to some of the most disadvantaged women in Sunderland. Teresa Smare from St Vincent's in Newcastle explains how the organisation supports vulnerable individuals and families in the North East area.
