    High Point Market!

    High Point Market!

Kirsten is back with a guest, friend, and colleague to talk all about High Point Market!

Kirsten & Kristy both own their own Interior Design Firms and thought it would be fun to share the inside scoop on their recent work trip to High Point, North Carolina.

They share all the details on what exactly is High Point Market and why they invest in going each year. They also chat about "celebrity" influencers/designers that go and what Interior Design Trends they saw, and why there really is something for every "style".

    Slowing Down

    Slowing Down

We are back!! Monique (the french lady) joined Kirsten in this oh so good episode talking about the concept of slowing down. What does it mean to "Live Slowly?"
In todays world we are always told to want more, do more, be more, have more....and only then will we be happy. How can we take simple steps to slow down whatever phase of life we are in?
Monique talks about her health diagnosis that forced her to make changes in her life. She shares with us her inspiration for her instagram account called Motustardus- which means slow in Latin. She says, "Life brought me exactly what I needed".
Kirsten shares about a book she read recently that talks about this concept called 'Chasing Slow'. In it the auther says," Many of us have come to a point in life where we feel weary. We have burdened ourselves with possessions, packed social calendars, busy work schedules- loads that are far too heavy to carry-yet we grip them with clenched hands."
Maybe we need to stop trying to paddle fast enough to outswim our sadness.

It's Never Too Late! | Kathi Holzer

Today Jen and Kirsten interview a special guest!
    At age 60 Kathy Holzer:
A competitive athlete turned PE teacher and coach for over 30 years- in a quest for creativity, picked up a keyboard, which led to a $2.50 watercolor set, which led to her discovering that she was an artist.

As an artist  she has learned how to practice living without judgment,
Create without the fear of failure,
And the discipline of learning the technical aspects of art.

All while giving back to the community and inspiring others to do the same.

“To become human is to become visible. “
To put your art out into the world is to become highly visible.

We want to hear your takeaways from this episode.
    Let us know!

    Girlfriends & Time Away

    Girlfriends & Time Away

Monique is here (recording from France!) with Kirsten talking all about the importance of spending time with girlfriends and time for yourself.
When we can prioritize connecting with other women in a deep and meaningful way, we share, unwind, and can breathe deeply for a moment...taking the weight off of our chest.
Women are so often the heart of the home, pouring so much of themselves into their homes, children, significant others, work, etc. It can get heavy at times.
We need longer time blocks where we have NOTHING to take care of but ourselves. Time that we think only of ourselves. This is how we recharge and are filled back up again to give more fully and from a good place.
Why does it seem so hard for women to take the time away?
Why do we struggle to let go of our responsibilities?
The kids and family WILL survive without you and teaching your kids to be self sufficient is a good thing.
Being able to transport yourself away from your normal everday life is important for renewal....Having a moment to have your own thoughts, listen, and be quiet.
Women understand women and the loads we carry, with much compassion for each other.
Don't forget the importance of making an effort with friendships. Priorize taking time for friends!

Running away to the French Riviera

Running away to the French Riviera

Have you ever wondered what a girls trip to the French Riviera would be like?
Join us today as Monique shares about her latest vacation with her girlfriends to the Riviera. She lives just a short drive from the either coast. How would that be?!
We talk French vacations. July & August are months to avoid the Mediterranean because of all the travelers. The Irish, the Germans, the Danish, etc. all go at this time for their summer vacations.
Monique and her girlfriends visited villas, gardens, terraces, a rock hill medieval village perched high(Eze), and more. They even ventured over the border to Italy for some Italian hot chocolate. (think creamy and super thick)
Tea time, shopping, flower market, and sight seeing. (The Riviera is all about the ocean views)
Vacations are very important to the French...3 weeks in the summer with the family and short girls trips as often as possible...Taking time for yourself is prioritized. They are so great at "Chilling"
Monique will be here again for the next 2 episodes!
