What we didn’t learn in school

What we didn’t learn in school

Join me, as I kick off my Season Premiere of Season 6 on the She Blows It Podcast: Made in ignorance, what they didn't teach us in school. It was only befitting that this first episode highlights what the education system failed to teach us and is failing to teach our children. I used various sources for this conversation including: http://www.fldoe.org/accountability/assessments/ https://www.nj.gov/education/cccs/ https://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifestyle/8-essential-skills-they-didnt-teach-you-in-school.html We learned math for testing, but not how to write a check; we spent time in Government and Civics class, but didn't even realize that very important pieces of history were excluded, as though they never occurred; and if we didn't attend a school in certain zip code, then the school most likely lacked resources. This particular source: https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/schoolsearch/ drives home the point of zip code and how zone/area play and important role in quality of education. Tune in, enjoy, and let's talk about what really matters.  Subscribe, Like, and Follow this podcast on all platforms. My Teacher Doesn't look like me

My Teacher Doesn't look like me

Welcome to the She Blows it Podcast and; oh, boy was this episode a ride!

Join your host me, your host, Carla Coley in a discussion on Episode #2- My Teacher doesn't look like me, where I reference how teacher and student relationships and how that impacts quality of education based on supporting research from the following sources:

    1. https://www.gse.harvard.edu/news/ed/16/05/where-are-all-teachers-color

    2. https://www.chalkbeat.org/2019/5/15/21121045/i-was-a-white-teacher-who-couldn-t-talk-about-race-a-journey-through-successful-u-s-high-schools-cha'

I not only touch base on teachers who can't identify with their students, but I get to the bottom of the why and how. Peep out my narrative at the end where I'm serving metaphors and giving you a perspective of emotional intelligence through the lens of a #misfit. Tell me what you think about that one!

    Assets VS. Liabilities

    Assets VS. Liabilities

Join host Carla Coley in a solo discussion, on how reading between the lines isn't something we learned in school in terms of socialization and building relationships.

    On this episode we will:

View assets and liabilities; not based on real estate, property, or financial investments, but on how the people in our lives are also assets and liabilities when it comes to our goals, peace, and success.
    Define Assets
    Define Liabilities
Explore philosophies around how people can be assets based on their core beliefs and principles. Especially, when their belief system aligns with yours and the goals you're striving to achieve. What's also important are the vibes, and when the vibes are good, the tribe is good. Remember, your network is your net worth!
Explore philosophies around how people can be liabilities based on their negative core beliefs being projected onto you and how that creates a clashing of energy. It makes you wonder if that person is supporting you, clout chasing, or simply hating?
Tie them both in and differentiate how to choose accordingly

Be sure to subscribe to this podcast. It is my deepest hope that you took something away from this show and evaluated yourself and your tribe. To love thyself

Join your host, Carla Coley on episode #6: in a discussion centered around the following ideas:

Explore the differences between self care and self love
Just because we take care of ourselves doesn't mean we love ourselves. Sources of reference, are extracted from the experiences of people like DMX, Kid Cudi, Dwayne Johnson, and Jennifer Lewis.
How Self love and self care is different for everyone; different strokes for different folks.
How loving yourself doesn't mean you don't experience insecurities, negative thoughts, or negative energy. Every day is not peaches and cream ya'll!
