Planning for the Day You Pray Never Comes

Episode Description We all have that item living on our to-do list forever — the one we keep pushing off. In this episode, Anna steps out of the usual heart-space conversation and into practical, "nuts and bolts" territory: getting your affairs in order. Drawing on her background in law and her own family's experience with sudden, life-altering illness, Anna walks through life insurance, disability insurance, long-term care insurance, and the four key estate documents every family needs. It's not a fun topic, but as Anna puts it, it's one of the most tangible acts of love we can offer the people we care about. Not legal or financial advice — just Anna sharing what she's learned through personal experience and working with professionals. Key Points Term life insurance, whole life, and variable life: For most families, term life insurance offers a lower cost, while investing the savings elsewhere often provides better returns. Rule of thumb: Have coverage of at least 10 times your lost income, and lock in rates while you're young. Disability insurance replaces approximately 60% of your income tax-free. Long-term care insurance is best secured in your 50s; Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) are an alternative for guaranteed lifetime care. Four core estate documents: Durable Power of Attorney, Healthcare Power of Attorney/Advance Directive, Will, and Revocable Trust. Name at least three backup people for Power of Attorney, guardianship, and trustee roles. For guardianship, list individuals rather than couples to avoid complications, and include a letter explaining your reasoning. Trusts can protect children from receiving large sums too young — Anna delays distributions until ages 30 and 35. Keep beneficiary designations consistent across all accounts. Make sure someone besides you and your spouse has access to key logins and accounts.   Let's Talk Coaching! Are you ready to close the gap between where you are and where you feel called to go? From Holistic to WHOLENESS - Loving Your Body into Health with Brook Sheehan

Episode Description Sweet friend, have you ever felt like your body is working against you, like it's something to manage, fix, or fight rather than something God actually designed with wisdom? On this episode of the Christian purpose podcast Overwhelmed to Overcomer, Anna sits down with Dr. Brook Sheehan, chiropractor, functional wellness expert, and creator of the Body OS Blueprint, for an honest, funny, and deeply theological conversation about what happens when we stop hacking our health and start listening to it. Brook shares her own journey out of "toxic wellness culture" (28 supplements and all), unpacks the Hebrew concepts of sark and soma to show why your body isn't your enemy, and offers a simple, Spirit-led practice for building real trust with the body God gave you. This is a Christian life coaching conversation about stewardship, peace over pressure, and remembering that the God who formed you also indwells you. He's not asking you to earn your health through striving.   Key Takeaways Your body was designed by God with wisdom and intelligence. It isn't something to hack, control, or be at war with, but something to be honored as His image-bearing masterpiece. "Toxic wellness culture" can quietly become its own form of idolatry, pulling us into obsession, control, and self-worship instead of trust in the Lord. Building a relationship with your body works the same way any relationship does: through consistency, small conversations, and time, not instant mastery. When you can't hear a clear answer from your body, take it to the Holy Spirit first. He is the ultimate authority you were always meant to consult. The Hebrew word sark (flesh) refers to sinful, disordered desire that leads us away from God, while soma (body) is the God-designed, image-bearing vessel He loves and calls good. Scripture actually reverences the body in remarkable detail, from the liver, kidneys, and diaphragm named in Leviticus's sacrifices to Paul's description of the church as one body in 1 Corinthians. Fixing one "hole in the fence," one root issue, often brings healing to other symptoms too, because our bodies were never designed to function like disconnected machines. True healing and healthy habits should flow from a place of peace, not pressure. It's a phrase worth sitting with any time a wellness routine starts to feel like striving. The enemy of your peace often isn't the supplement or the workout itself. It's forum-shopping outside voices instead of anchoring first in the Lord and in your own body's God-given wisdom. Gratitude, even on the hard, achy, no-good-sleep days, is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to steward the body God entrusted to you. Scriptures Referenced Ecclesiastes 3:1: "To everything there is a season." This anchors the conversation's reminder that supplements, food, and body needs shift with seasons of life rather than staying fixed forever. Psalm 139:13–14: "You formed my inward parts." This connects to the Hebrew concept of the kidneys as the seat of conscience, showing how intimately and intentionally God designed the body. Jeremiah 17:10: "The Lord tests the heart and the kidneys." This is used to illustrate how much nuance and physical and spiritual meaning gets lost in translation from Hebrew to English. Leviticus (sacrificial offerings, e.g. Leviticus 3:3–4): Referenced for God's specific request for the liver, kidneys, and fatty lobe of the liver (diaphragm) in Old Testament offerings, painting a picture of how seriously God regards the body. 1 Corinthians 12:12–27: Paul's body-as-church analogy is cited to show Scripture's reverence for the human body as intentionally designed, with each part being necessary. Galatians 5:16–24 (referenced conceptually): Discusses the crucifying of the flesh (sark), distinguished from the honoring of the body (soma). Genesis 2:7: God forming man from the dust of the ground is cited as the foundation of a biblical theology of the body and the goodness of physical creation.   Resources Mentioned  Website - https://drbrooksheehan.com/  Instagram: @drbrooksheehan  Love Thy Body by Nancy Pearcey - https://a.co/d/01bfPfZi    Let's Talk Coaching! Redeeming Love Languages

Episode Description If you've ever fought with someone you love and walked away thinking, if they could only understand me, this episode is your permission to try something different. Anna unpacks a 20-year-old piece of pastoral wisdom that reshaped her marriage, flipping the Five Love Languages on its head so it becomes less about being understood and more about learning to hear the people who love you. It's a Christian podcast for women who are tired of going in circles with a spouse, a child, or a parent and want a real, practical way to bridge the gap. With honest stories from her own marriage, including the early-days arguments that revealed exactly where she and her husband were missing each other, Anna offers a simple, faith-and-courage-and-charity-shaped tool you can use in your very next conflict. Key Takeaways Most relationship conflict isn't a love deficit; it's a love language mismatch, where both people are actually showing love, just in different dialects. Listening to your recurring arguments is one of the fastest ways to uncover someone's love language, because conflict often reveals what people feel is missing. The instinct to make others understand us keeps us turned inward. The deeper invitation is to turn outward and learn to hear how others already express love. Acts of service, words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, and gifts are rarely one-size-fits-all. The same category can look completely different from person to person. With children, love languages often show up as behavior before they show up as words. Watch for what calms them down, not just what they ask for. Sometimes a "prickly" or resistant child is actually testing whether you'll reach for them, especially if physical touch is their language. Charity, that self-emptying, sacrificial love modeled by Christ all the way to the cross, is a richer word than "love," which has been diluted by overuse. Because we are already fully known and fully justified through the cross, we don't have to fight to be understood or proven right in every conflict. Choosing to meet someone in their love language, even when it doesn't come naturally to you, softens hearts and stewards the relationship well. Personality frameworks like Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, and DISC are valuable tools for understanding people, but they were never meant to become silos where we expect others to enter in order to know us Resources Mentioned The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman - https://a.co/d/001IfRyc    Let's Talk Coaching! Parenting Without Shame: A Field Guide to Safeguarding Your Child's Purity with Doug Moore

We didn't get "the talk" for a digital world — but our kids are growing up in one. Anna sits down with Doug Moore, a SANE nurse, former wilderness guide, and youth ministry veteran, to talk about protecting and shepherding kids through pornography exposure, digital addiction, and online dangers. Doug shares practical, no-shame strategies for building the kind of relationship where your child comes to you first — plus why the car, the woods, and unplugged family time might be your best parenting tools yet. Key Points: Parents must stay aware of what kids are exposed to — apps that disguise themselves (like fake calculator apps), gaming chat features (Roblox, Discord), and even "safe" apps can be misused The "no-shame game": creating safety so kids come to parents when they see something they shouldn't Code words (e.g., "shield up") give kids an exit strategy in public or uncomfortable moments Average age of first exposure to pornographic images is 8–9 years old; the brain's dopamine response can create addictive patterns The "sandwich method" for talking about technology: good — caution — good, framing tech as a tool rather than a threat Best conversation settings: the car (side-by-side, no eye contact needed) and the outdoors/wilderness Nature and unplugged time "wake up the senses" that digital addiction numbs Parents modeling healthy device habits matters as much as rules Past struggles or "scars" don't disqualify a parent from guiding their child — they can become a source of empathy and credibility Doug's Vanguard Conference — August 29th in North Georgia — for dads and moms, including expert speakers and a father-child covenant   Books & Resources Mentioned: The Vanguard Project: Equipping Fathers to Fight for Their Sons by Doug Moore - https://thevanguardproject.org/  (book, free age-specific resources, contact info) Good Pictures, Bad Pictures - by Kristen A Jenson (Author), Gail Poyner (Author) - https://a.co/d/0elOVfrE  Vanguard Conference — August 29, North Georgia, featuring counselor Bill Jessup - https://thevanguardproject.org/conference   Let's Talk Coaching! Finishing Last

When's the last time you came in dead last? For most of us adult women, it's been years  because adulthood lets us quietly opt out of anything we might not be good at. In this episode of the Christian purpose podcast for women, Anna shares the humbling (and honestly hilarious) story of nearly not making it back to her car after a brutal new gym class  and the surprising gift that showed up when the strongest people in the room stopped to cheer for the weakest. Anna unpacks the Parable of the Two Talents in Matthew 25, the true story of Olympian and missionary Eric Liddell, and what it means to steward well even when - especially when - we're not the best in the room. If you've been avoiding something because you're scared of finishing last … sweet friend, this one's your invitation to show up anyway.     Key Takeaways Adulthood gives us the freedom to choose comfort, but that same freedom can quietly talk us out of ever stretching into new spaces again. The gift of failure isn't just about growth — sometimes it's about joy, and it's almost always about connection. The people who are strongest and most competent are often the ones most eager to cheer on the person who is new. In the Parable of the Talents, the master gives the exact same blessing to the servant with two talents as to the servant with five — faithfulness is measured by stewardship, not scale. The servant who buried his one talent didn't fail because he lacked ability — he failed because he believed a lie about who the Master was. God is not the harsh, reaping-where-He-didn't-sow master we sometimes fear Him to be — He is generous, and His Kingdom is expansive, not scarce. There is no place harder to finish last than somewhere you used to finish first — and that vulnerability is worth naming instead of avoiding. Eric Liddell chose to run a race he wasn't built for rather than compromise his convictions, and near the end of his life, sick and starving in an internment camp, he lost a race to a child and shook their hand with grace. Showing up to finish last isn't just obedience — it keeps us humble and endears us to the people around us who get to remember what it felt like to be new too. You are being invited this week to name the place you've been avoiding … and finish last there anyway, because He's got you.     Scriptures Referenced Matthew 25:14–30 — The Parable of the Talents Hebrews 4:12  - "the Word is a two-edged sword"      Resources Mentioned Episode with Katrina Riffle about strength training & nourishment  Hybrid Strength: How to Steward Your Health for Life with Katrina Riffle | Ep 104 :  https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/hybrid-strength-how-to-steward-your-health-for-life/id1714745503?i=1000746183990  Nourishment for Life: Katrina Riffle on Purposeful, Sustainable Nutrition | Ep 105 : https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/nourishment-for-life-katrina-riffle-on-purposeful-sustainable/id1714745503?i=1000747153815    Let's Talk Coaching! No One Fights Alone: Loving the Prodigal with Debra McNinch

Episode Description: What do you do when the phone call you never expected changes everything? In this episode, Anna sits down with Debra McNinch, founder of Battle Cry Moms, who shares the journey that began when her son announced he was transgender. Debra speaks not about her son's story, but her own — the bathroom floor, the promises she made to God, and how He met her there. This conversation is for every listener who has a before-and-after moment, a prodigal they love, or a wound they haven't yet brought all the way through.         Key Talking Points: The tsunami metaphor — how a single phone call dismantled Debra's picture-perfect life Why Debra frames this as her story, not her son's The immediate promises she made to God: journal, build community, tell the story Prophetic dreams 20 years prior — God's long preparation for a moment she couldn't see coming Getting off the bathroom floor: it's a process, not a day Old Testament stories that anchored her faith — Gideon, David in 1 Samuel 30, Deborah in Judges Door 1 vs. Door 2 vs. Door 3 — finding a third way that is neither condemnation nor full affirmation "I cannot hate my child enough to get him to heaven" — and refusing to love him straight to hell The back door: bypassing the head to reach the heart The sewing machine story — a small, ordinary act that broke through years of estrangement Fixing the wall in front of your own house (Nehemiah) — you can't change the whole world, but you can change what's in front of you Keeping the bridge intact so the prodigal has a way home The marriage supper of the Lamb as the one table that matters Battle Cry Moms: 1,700+ moms worldwide, praying and holding each other's arms up         Scriptures Referenced: Psalm 23 — He leads me through the valley Revelation 12:11 — Overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony Luke 15 — The Prodigal Son (and the older brother still outside) Judges 4–5 — Deborah: "I arose, a mother in Israel" 1 Samuel 30 — David pursues; not one was lost Nehemiah 3 — Each one repaired the section in front of his own house Isaiah 61:3 — Beauty from ashes (referenced in spirit) John 21:18 — Jesus to Peter: "When you are older, they will lead you where you do not want to go"         Resources Mentioned: Debra's website & blog: http://www.debramcninch.com — sign up here Purchase Battle Cry: https://a.co/d/00DxPQhg Battle Cry Moms: https://www.battlecrymoms.com/ Battle Cry Dads: https://battlecrydads.com/   Let's Talk Coaching! Your Work Will Be Rewarded - IF

Episode Description: Have you been laboring and praying for something for so long it's starting to feel fruitless? Anna brings a rich, Hebrew word study from 2 Chronicles 14–16 to remind you that the work God has called you to is dignified, purposeful, and will be rewarded. This is an episode for the weary heart — one that needs its head lifted today.     Key Talking Points: The encouragement of 2 Chronicles 15:7 and what it really means in the original Hebrew King Asa's story: what faithful, wholehearted work actually looks like in practice The two Hebrew words for courage — Chazak (to fasten, hold fast) and Amatz (inner fortification/mental courage) — and what they reveal about true bravery The Hebrew word for "work" (melachah) — rooted in the same word as malak (messenger, deputy, angel) — meaning our work is never servile; it's noble service in deputyship to the King Why the fruit of your labor may not be visible yet — and why that's okay When a relationship needs a boundary: Anna's "Hierarchy of Covenants" framework The sobering end of Asa's reign as a caution to hold fast all the way through The stunning mirror moment: the same word Chazak used to call us to fasten to God is also used to describe how God fastens to us Encouragement to "let the Word happen to you," especially in the unfamiliar Old Testament passages     Scriptures Referenced: 2 Chronicles 14 & 15 (ESV, NLT) — King Asa's reign and the prophecy of Azariah 2 Chronicles 15:7 — "Be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded." 2 Chronicles 16 — Asa's unholy alliance with Syria and its consequences Joshua 1:9 — "Be strong and courageous..." Nurse practitioner, pediatric mental health specialist, and homeschooling mom of three Raeanne Johnson joins Anna to bridge the gap between neuroscience and Scripture — showing us how to quiet the chaos within so we can parent from a place of peace. Practical, biblical, and genuinely encouraging.     Key Takeaways You are the thermostat of your home — your regulation sets the temperature for everyone else Feelings aren't facts — separate the emotion from the evidence before drawing conclusions The cognitive behavioral triad (Aaron Beck) — thoughts shape behaviors, behaviors shape beliefs; change the thought, change the outcome The middle of the story is the worst time to scrutinize God's goodness — and we're all in the middle We move our bodies to move our minds — movement resets the nervous system and reduces cortisol All emotions are valid; all behaviors are not — give kids vocabulary for feelings and tools to process them Neurodivergent kids are corrected 4x more than neurotypical peers — intentionally catch and celebrate the good Dysregulation is a part of life — plan for it rather than shame your way through it     Scriptures Referenced Psalm 46 — "Though the earth totters... you hold steady its pillars" John 16:33 — "In this world you will have trouble, but take heart; I have overcome the world" Galatians 5 — Self-control and kindness as fruits of the Spirit 2 Corinthians 12:9 — His grace is made perfect in weakness Proverbs 127:2 — God grants rest to those He loves 1 Corinthians 10:23 — Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial Psalm 68:6 — God sets the lonely in families     Books & Resources Mentioned Habits of the Household — Justin Earley - https://a.co/d/0b1P2Bcj  The Common Rule — Justin Earley - https://a.co/d/0dXRJstg  The Body Teaches the Soul — Justin Earley - https://a.co/d/0heXisvq  The Bible Recap — Tara-Leigh Cobble - https://www.thebiblerecap.com/    Connect with Raeanne 🌐 brainwaveswellness.com 📱 Instagram: @brainwaveswellness Raeanne's Resources: 📖 Calm the Storm Guide — free 10-page guide on what the Bible says about emotions - https://www.brainwaveswellness.com/calmthestorm  📦 Anchored Mama Toolkit —https://www.brainwaveswellness.com/anchoredmamatoolkit      Connect Leave a Review — Enjoying the show? About

Do you have big dreams rooted in an even bigger God … but most days, those dreams seem impossibly far out of reach? Welcome to Overwhelmed to Overcomer podcast, where we unpack and celebrate the unique purpose the Lord has given each of us, and how we can walk it out more fully - with deeper JOY - today, right in the midst of the madness. Together, we will come to trust the Father's deep love for us and our incredible value as one of His children, called to steward well the gifts He's given us … we will unpack and walk out our own unique, God-given purpose … and we will encourage one another to operate in that purpose in our daily lives with courage, leaning into the support of fellow sojourners. In this podcast, you'll find practical, tactical steps; honest conversations; and my-heart-to-yours invitations to rest and receive at the feet of the God who sees you as you steward well His calling for your life. The Lord has called us to do a thing - and He'll not only equip us, but also fortify and fuel us along the way. So, let's dig into this conversation of belonging … purpose … and courage. Sweet friend, your. life. MATTERS. So, if you're here for this, I'm here for you! Let's do this thing. With clarity. With courage. With each other.
