She Rises Through It: Self-Leadership, Becoming & Growth for Women in Transition

Cydnie Brown

She Rises Through It is a weekly podcast for women who are navigating the messy middle of growth; where identity shifts, motivation fades, and the next chapter hasn’t fully revealed itself yet. I’m Cydnie Jocelyn, Minnesota-based CEO of The Cydnie Jocelyn Collective, retreat creator, and mentor for women in transition. This podcast is where I speak honestly about becoming in real time, without bypassing the discomfort, the nervous system work, or the real-life responsibilities we’re carrying alongside our growth. Here, we don’t chase quick fixes or perform healing. We build self-leadership, slowly, intentionally, and with integrity. Each episode explores: • self-leadership in seasons of transition and growth • burnout, misalignment, and rebuilding self-trust • identity shifts, becoming, and the space between who you were and who you’re becoming • nervous system regulation and emotional resilience • motherhood, leadership, and capacity-building in real life • the discomfort before expansion and how to lead yourself through it This podcast is for women who are doing the work, parenting, leading, healing, building, while quietly feeling that something in their life is changing. Women who are ready to stop waiting for permission and start trusting themselves again. Alongside the podcast, I host transformational retreats in Minnesota and Costa Rica, offer identity mentorship, and cultivate spaces where women can slow down, regulate their bodies, and reconnect to their inner authority before expanding into what’s next. If you’ve ever felt stuck between who you were and who you’re becoming, this space is for you. You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re building self-leadership in the messy middle. Welcome to She Rises Through It.

Lessons from Children: Leadership, Love, and Authenticity

Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned about leadership, love, and growth didn’t come from business. They came from my children. In this episode, I reflect on how motherhood has challenged me, stretched me, and taught me things I didn’t even realize I needed to learn. From slowing down, to advocating, to leading with more intention, I’ve seen how much wisdom exists in the way children live, love, and show up as themselves. I also share honestly about the pressure I’ve felt to prove myself, the expectations I’ve carried, and how I’ve had to step back and recognize where I wasn’t fully living what I was teaching. This conversation is about learning to lead differently. Not from pressure or performance, but from authenticity, awareness, and trust in your own path. In this episode, I talk about: • The lessons children teach about leadership, love, and authenticity • How motherhood reveals patterns you don’t always see in yourself • The pressure to prove yourself and meet external expectations • Why slowing down is necessary for real growth • Creating safe spaces where people can learn, make mistakes, and be themselves • Letting go of the idea that there is only one “right way” to grow or lead You don’t have to follow the same path or meet the same standards as everyone else. There is no one way to lead, to grow, or to build something meaningful. The more you allow yourself and others to be different, the more space you create for real connection, creativity, and growth. Sometimes the best thing you can do is step back, observe, and learn from the simple moments right in front of you. Overfunctioning, Resentment, and Identity Burnout in High-Achieving Women

If you feel burnt out, resentful, or disconnected from yourself, it’s not because you’re doing too much. It’s because you’ve been operating from an identity that no longer fits. In this episode, we talk about a kind of burnout that doesn’t come from a packed calendar but from overfunctioning, emotional labor, and managing everyone else’s comfort while slowly abandoning your own needs. The kind of burnout that happens while life still looks successful on the outside. This conversation explores how survival identities form, why they work for a season, and how they eventually become the very thing that exhausts you. We unpack why resentment is a warning sign, why being “the strong one” can turn into isolation, and why leadership requires disappointing people instead of staying likable. In this episode, I talk about: How survival identities form in high-functioning women and why they are rewarded by culture, family, and work Why overfunctioning creates safety and control at first, but eventually becomes the source of exhaustion and resentmentHow being the “reliable, emotionally mature one” trains your nervous system to suppress needs instead of lead with truthWhy resentment is not a character flaw, but a signal that responsibility has crossed into self-abandonmentHow leadership requires releasing likability, approval, and the need to be understoodKey Takeaways: Burnout often comes from carrying identities that no longer fitOverfunctioning feels responsible, but slowly erases self-trustResentment signals misaligned responsibility, not failureLeadership requires tolerating misunderstanding instead of correcting itYou can choose alignment without betraying yourselfYou don’t rise after it. Let Them: Recalibration, Self-Trust, and Not Losing Yourself While Building a Full Life

“Am I still here, or am I slowly losing myself inside everything I’m responsible for?” This episode is a quiet, honest reflection on the season where life looks full and meaningful, yet something feels slightly disconnected. Not a breakdown. Not a crisis. Just the subtle tension of holding a lot while trying not to lose yourself in the process. Building a brand, a family, a marriage, a mission. This conversation explores what happens when responsibility, visibility, and expectations begin to shape identity. It continues the thread from last week’s episode with Renee and centers on self trust. Not confidence. Not motivation. Self trust in the moments where life gets complicated and decisions feel exposed. In this episode, I talk about: • The quiet signs of losing yourself while building a full life  • Why recalibration feels like tension, not clarity or rest  • How identity becomes tied to performance, roles, and being understood  • The nervous system response to change and being misunderstood  • Why managing perception creates more exhaustion than the work itself  • The difference between joy and force in decision making  • How motherhood, marriage, brand, and mission pull from the same emotional bandwidth Takeaway: • You cannot grow fully while managing perception at the same time  • Recalibration is not about doing less or quitting what you love  • Awareness comes before clarity, motivation, or change  • Joy feels grounded, even when it is challenging  • Force feels tight, heavy, and driven by expectation  • Staying connected to yourself is part of sustainable growth If you’ve been feeling tired, stretched, or quietly questioning your pace, you’re not behind. You’re becoming. And this season of recalibration may be the most important work you do. —- If this episode resonates, here are a few aligned ways to continue your journey: ✨ Rise & Reground: The Costa Rica Experience: https://www.cydniejocelyn.com/riseandregroundcostarica2026 I created this retreat for women in transition who are ready to slow down, regulate their nervous systems, reconnect to their bodies, and build leadership capacity before expansion. 🌿 Pioneer Pam Tinctures:  https://pioneerpam.com?sca_ref=10153950.2pXEgTTkxcF Mullein tincture: https://pioneerpam.com/products/mullein-tincture?sca_ref=10153950.2pXEgTTkxcF Elderberry: https://pioneerpam.com/products/elderberry-tincture?sca_ref=10153950.2pXEgTTkxcF Phytotox anti-aging: https://pioneerpam.com/products/phytotox-bundle-pre-sale?sca_ref=10153950.2pXEgTTkxcF These have been part of my grounding rituals, especially the Phytotox Anti-Aging Line, supporting calm, healthy, radiant skin during emotionally demanding seasons. ⚡ Bioactive Precision Peptides by Make Wellness: https://makewellness.com/2D969F9DA7/shopping/item?itemId=46&categoryID=31 --- Support the show This podcast reflects my personal experience, not professional or medical advice. Becoming Will Disappoint People Who Benefited From the Old You with Renee Stribbell

“Do you actually like yourself? Not who you’re becoming… but you.” In this episode of She Rises Through It, I sit down with Renee Stribbell, a wife, mother, business owner, and coach who speaks honestly about womanhood, motherhood, and the messy middle. Renee shares her personal journey of struggling with self-worth, people-pleasing, and tying her value to performance, until that way of living became unsustainable. Together, we unpack how worth gets shaped by approval, productivity, and perfection, and what it really looks like to reclaim self-trust from the inside out. This conversation is deeply human, practical, and for the woman who is tired of proving herself and ready to come home to who she already is. In this episode, Renee and I talk about: Why many women tie their worth to being “good enough” for othersHow fear of judgment shows up in motherhood, business, and decision-makingThe difference between self-worth and performance (and how burnout exposes it)The question that shifted everything: “Do you like yourself?”How the unconscious mind keeps us “safe” through habits like self-criticismPractical ways to build self-trust through small actions and safe supportA healthier approach to failure: learning without shame and continuing anywayIf you’ve been stuck in the in-between, craving confidence but still feeling messy, this episode is your reminder that worth is not something you earn. The Identity Grief That Comes With Outgrowing Your Life

If January didn’t flip a magical switch for you, if you don’t feel behind but you don’t feel fired up either, nothing is wrong with you. In this episode, I’m talking to the woman who has been holding it all together, who’s built something meaningful, and who’s starting to feel a quiet internal shift she can’t ignore anymore. I’m sharing what it looks like to move through a recalibration season, not burnout, not a breakdown, but a grounded, honest slowing down. We talk about learning how to progress without panic, how misalignment often whispers instead of screams, and why January is not a performance month. This is a reminder that calm doesn’t mean you stopped, it means your nervous system finally did. In this episode, I talk about: The struggles many of us are quietly carrying: Feeling neutral, unmotivated, or disconnected at the start of the new yearMoving through life without urgency but questioning if something is “wrong”Being capable of doing a lot while feeling uninspired or misalignedPushing through exhaustion, body signals, and nervous system overloadCarrying pressure to perform, produce, or prove instead of slowing downWhat I’m doing instead (and what you can try too): Naming this season as recalibration, not burnout or failure.Letting calm exist without trying to fix it.Paying attention to my body’s signals, especially tension, numbness, and fatigue.Allowing progress to look lighter.Using January to listen instead of perform.Stopping the habit of doing everything alone, and choosing support, structure, and community while I recalibrateIf something in your body softened while listening,if you felt seen, understood, or quietly validated, trust that. You don’t need to rush or decide anything today. Just know this: recalibration doesn’t require force, and you don’t have to do it alone. The Problem With the “New Year, New Me” Mindset

Before you plan 2026 or set new goals, this episode invites you to pause. Not because you are doing it wrong, but because most women do not fail their goals. They fail to become the person required to sustain them. This conversation explores why planning without reflection leads to burnout, misalignment, and self-abandonment. Especially for women navigating full lives, shifting seasons, and growing responsibility. Rather than focusing on another plan, this episode centers on truth, identity, and learning how to return to yourself when life interrupts your expectations. In this episode, we talk about:  • Why most goals fail because of misalignment, not lack of discipline  • The problem with the “new year, new me” mindset  • Why reflection is leadership, not regression  • How your nervous system impacts consistency  • Why missing a day is not failure and pivoting is not weakness  • What it really means to build capacity before expansion This episode is for women who are done forcing growth and are ready to build a life that feels aligned, sustainable, and honest. —- If this episode stirred something in you and you feel ready to stop waiting for the perfect time, I am offering a Day One commitment bonus for women who choose alignment now. When the Holidays Expose Burnout, Identity Shifts, and Misalignment

If you have been feeling emotionally exhausted this Christmas season, even when your life looks good on the outside, this episode is for you. This is not the kind of exhaustion that comes from doing too much. It is the kind that shows up when you have been living inside a version of yourself that no longer fits who you are becoming. This episode is shared as a letter for women in transition. For those who feel disoriented not because they are lost, but because the life they once built no longer matches the person they are becoming. In this episode, we explore: ✨ Why emotional exhaustion is often a sign of misalignment, not burnout ✨ How the Christmas season exposes nervous system overwhelm and emotional labor ✨ Why performing joy, gratitude, and strength leads to deeper fatigue ✨ What the messy middle really means in seasons of personal growth ✨ How self-leadership is built before clarity, confidence, or certainty ✨ The connection between nervous system regulation, presence, and identity shifts ✨ Why slowing down can feel unsafe for high-functioning women ✨ How the body communicates truth before the mind understands it I also share personal stories from this season, including navigating parenting young children, redefining what Christmas truly means, writing a letter instead of buying a gift, and recognizing how pressure often exists only in our own projections. Above all, this is an invitation to release performance. To stop rushing your becoming. To honor the truth that you do not owe anyone a version of yourself you have already outgrown. You are not behind. You are not failing. You are becoming. And you do not have to perform your way there.
