What does it really take to be a trusted voice? And how can we truly be authentic on camera? In this episode of She Speaks to Scale, I speak to Reporter / Presenter and Broadcast Journalist, Sangeeta Kandola, who has been a regular on our screens and radio airwaves for the last twenty years. Sangeeta certainly knows a thing or two about on camera confidence and in this refreshing conversation, she opens up about her journey to finding her voice, whilst in the spotlight. In this conversation we explore: 🎙️Sangeeta's journey from being 'just a girl from Essex' to 'a trusted voice of UK Broadcasting.' 🎙️What it takes to be authentic on camera 🎙️The imposter syndrome and nerves that she still experiences to this day 🎙️The importance of using your voice in this digital era 🎙️How Sangeeta keeps grounded and composed in the moments that matter About the Guest: Sangeeta Kandola is a mum of 3 children from London. The broadcaster has been on our screens and radio airwaves for the last 20 years, mainly working for ITN & Channel 5 News. More recently she went back to radio at News UK, where she can be heard on Talk Radio, Virgin and Talk Sport. Hailing from Redbridge in Essex, she didn't have links or contacts in the world of news, but from a very young age knew that she wanted to tell people's stories and one day have the privilege reading the news. The 47 year old, says as a student she worked - for free - for various radio stations and wrote articles for many publications to gain experience. Following her post graduation, she got a job as the 'autocue girl' on RISE - the breakfast show, before quickly advancing to their news team, writing bulletins. In 2006 she moved to Manchester, where she was offered a job as a reporter for Channel M News. After two years reporting there, she came back to the capital - where the doors to ITN and Sky News opened - and the rest is history.
