S4-EP5 - The loaded language of failure with Cara-Marie

On this episode with Cara-Marie from Georgia, Atlanta we discuss: Failures and redirections The loaded language of failure What we think about failure How we talk about failure And more about Cara-Marie and her work About Cara-Marie: In college Cara-Marie discovered her passion for people, when she met Kaiya Castillo, a vibrant and soulful teenage girl living with Cystic Fibrosis—and her mother, Kisha. After meeting Kaiya, Cara-Marie became involved with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) to bring awareness to the organization and help raise funds for Kaiya’s  double-lung transplant. Cara-Marie’s people-centered development work is a tribute to her family’s humble beginnings and the memory of Kaiya, who dreamed of majoring in journalism in college. Each project is deeply personal and  reflects Cara-Marie’s commitment to compassion, service and excellence. She considers it a gift to be entrusted by clients, and to have a team  of talented individuals on board and equally committed to excellence. Cara-Marie was born in Saint Andrew, Jamaica. After a few years in  New York, her parents settled the family in Florida. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Communication for Development at Malmö  University (Sweden). She is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and minor in Business. Cara-Marie works with clients around the world alongside her team at Findlay House Global, but is based in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) where she lives with her husband, son, and daughter. Takeaway for this episode: No experience is wasted. At worst, failures are redirections, and at best they are lessons that we can build on for the next time. S3.E8 - The Journey of a Swahili Girl to the Government House of Kenya with Nadia Ahmed Abdalla

My conversation with Nadia is so transformative and I know her words and story will inspire you. I discovered Nadia on Instagram and I immediately fell in love with her story after scrolling through her page and doing a little research on her. In today's episode, Nadia shares her journey to the government house of Kenya, growing up in a very conservative family, identity crisis and how speaking up and breaking barriers helped her through her journey. We also had discussions about Kenya Ni Mimi, Kenya women, her view on innovation and also she taught us how to say few words in swahili. One of the most beautiful thing we can learn from her story is giving ourselves the choice to always follow our soul's path no matter what happens.   About Nadia Ahmed Abdalla:  Nadia Ahmed Abdalla is the youngest Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs in Kenya, she's the first of her kind.
