S 4, Ep 8: RESET: Setting Yourself Up for Success

S 4, Ep 8: RESET: Setting Yourself Up for Success

Have you ever wondered why you haven't accomplished one of your goals yet? Perhaps you feel like you are doing everything within your power to get there and still feel frustrated. In this episode, therapist Megan Bayles Bartley continues to explore how our mindset matters when trying to create something new (i.e. accomplish a new goal).

Exercise Six of Megan's RESET book is all about the use of affirmations and positive self-talk. Our subconscious believes whatever we tell it. It we are constantly upset with ourselves for not accomplishing something yet, then we are feeding being "upset". What we feed grows.

If instead, we feed the belief that we have already accomplished the thing we want to accomplish through wording affirmations in the present tense and TRUST that they will happen in their own time, not our time, we create an energy of openness and receiving rather than an energy of closed-off-ness or blocking the very thing we have our mind set on.

Megan shares her own personal stories where she has used this method with great success.

    S 4, Ep 7: RESET: Embracing Gratitude

Therapist Megan Bayles Bartley reminds us in this episode that when we focus on what we lack, we tend to feel stuck and negative. When we focus on what is and are curious how to be thankful for what is, we can build on this and feel more positive and less stuck.

S 4, Ep 4: RESET: Envisioning the Future

S 4, Ep 4: RESET: Envisioning the Future

When we are looking to RESET, it can be helpful to get a full picture of what needs resetting.

Last episode we briefly visited the past to get information about what got us to where we are in this moment.

In this episode, we will look at the future and imagine where we want to be one year from now, or at the end of this calendar year.

Our imagination can be wonderfully powerful and helpful. If we can imagine something is going to happen or has even already happened, it is more likely to come to be, perhaps even before we had intended it (i.e. sooner than the end of the year). I have seen this happen first hand in my own life, and in those who have completed these exercises we are going through this season.

We can get information from the past and what we want for ourselves in the future so that we can make the best choices for ourselves in the present. Remember, we don’t want to live in the past or the future, we want to live in the present moment.

By tuning into yourself in the present moment you will be better equipped to “listen to your gut” or your intuition to make the best choices for yourself at this time.
