It’s sad that these guys have been there for the end of two once powerful boxing networks. Loooved this podcast at HBO. Their access to fighters/trainers/announcers/archives, and the level of fights they got to cover made it my all time favorite boxing podcast. Sadly that’s not saying much given this landscape but still.
I can’t emphasize enough how much I appreciate the fact that this is seemingly one of the few boxing podcasts that doesn’t turn into an alt-RW grievance fest at the end of each episode. Kieran and Erik are clearly up to speed and well-informed on the state of our American democracy as it hangs in the balance… for now. For that, I am grateful to them.
Wish these guys well wherever they go. Just hope they improve 3 things about the show:
1.) they’re both low talkers, which seems to be an east coast thing. They start at a low tone, and descend until they’re out of breath at the end of their thought and zero sound is coming out of their mouths. Plz work on this.
2.) as if #1 weren’t difficult enough, the audio for their podcasts are ALWAYS at a much much lower volume than every other podcast. I have to listen to their eps at max volume AND be in a quiet place to hear the show. Meaning can’t listen at work (construction), the shower, while doing dishes, working out, or any other place where I’m fighting background noise on my end. Plz work on this too.
3.) their engagement w/ listeners. Almost every podcast I’ve listened to over the yrs does a poor job at receiving honest feedback from their listeners. The shows that do however, are always better for it. Painful as it may be for them to mine through the trolls. This show unfortunately, does not receive feedback well. Multiple x over the yrs I attempted to respectfully and politely tell Erik and Kieran about the first two audio difficulties and other issues. Always via private messages in an effort to earnestly improve the listening experience. For this, I was ignored entirely by Erik and eventually blocked by Kieran on ig. They can’t be this sensitive to honest feedback when it is delivered in the most respectful way possible. Whom is the show made for? Do they not want to put out the best product they possibly can? They’d be wise to listen to their loyal listeners going fwd, if they do move fwd on another platform. Good luck, and thanks for the very quiet and hard to hear but mostly enjoyable shows.
