    Episode 4: Jordan Graves the Queen of Code

    Jordan Graves is the Queen of Code. She has crafted 0’s and 1’s into a rich tapestry of art and design. And like her work, she defies genres and leaps over antiquated definitions. Graves is a successful and steadfast entrepreneur; her success stems from her ability to create immersive and engaging shopping experiences. She treats her customers like artists, allowing them to experience true human-computer interactions. Not content to create static pieces, her work draws the viewer into joyful dialogues with technologies that are often perceived as cold and unpleasant. Jordan is a scientific explorer. She dives deep into a subject exposing all its sides and then dissects it, ponders it, and then reassembles it into something altogether different.  Computer code is a material for Jordan. Where most artists sculpt clay and cleave wood, she stacks mathematical formulas, and intricate scripts into binary codes that create works of art that are truly alive. People like Jordan are the future, right now

So far he has worked for BMW; he has worked for Nike; he has worked for Adidas; and recently he decided to work with one of the most masterful musicians and edgy designers of the 21st century, Kanye West.

    Jerome Tave and 10th Floor Studio

    The future of design, much like the future of humanity, will be shaped by multi-faceted minds. The challenges created decades ago have compounded themselves beyond linear, single-minded solutions. Any hope will require the skills of a savant. Tucked away in the overcast tech-metropolis of San Francisco is one such person. Jerome Tavè is a multi hyphenate designer, artist, and budding bonsai-ist. With stints at RKS Design, Dialpad, Spotify, and a host of private consulting contracts under his belt Jerome has crafted a career that views sustainable solutions as a given, not an addendum. Over the last decade he has worked to integrate environmentally conscious solutions into the corporate design-thinking where he specializes in Interaction Design. But, recently he decided to return to the world of product design. Along with his studio partner Kyle Lawson, and frequent visiting friends, he founded 10th Floor Studio. The studio’s work blurs any distinctions between product design, service design and contemporary art, and they operate with one mission: to save humanity from itself. I recently sat and talked with Jerome about his current career choices, life as a foreigner in today’s America, and how he believes fungus will save the world.
