Side One/Side B with Dave & Steve

A punk and a metalhead started a podcast because they want to show each other records and they both have ADHD and need to make the other listen to and now they're going to make you listen to them. Side One/Side B with Dave & Steve is a podcast put together with two bandmates with ADHD who have a similar Venn diagram of music tastes, but Dave comes at it from the punk perspective and Steve from the heavy metal perspective. It’s kind of like crossfire, except we don’t hate each other, or make Jon Stewart sad.

Send a text The cold open was previously aired during the Pixies Surfer Rosa rerun since I thought it was topical, and now again since it bled into this episode's introduction. In case anyone was confused! Zen Arcade is the second studio album by American punk rock band Hüsker Dü, released in July 1984 on SST Records. Originally released as a double album on two vinyl LPs, Zen Arcade tells the story of a young boy who runs away from an unfulfilling home life, only to find the world outside is even worse.[7] Zen Arcade and subsequent Hüsker Dü albums were instrumental in the creation of the alternative rock genre,[8][9]and it is considered by some to be one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Hüsker Dü had gained notice in the American indie music scene of the early 1980s as a fast, aggressive hardcore punk band. They were the first non-West Coast group signed to the California independent record label SST Records, which at the time specialized in releases by hardcore bands, most notably Black Flag. However, the trio's music was becoming more melodic and nuanced with each album Support the show Check out our post-punk band The Alliterates new song The House Came Crashing Down on the Vol 1: Let's Begin compilation from Shift-Ctrl-Music Check out our cover of Child's Christmas in Wales (OG by John Cale) on Chaos For Christmas from Rejected Youth Records Steve's Website Our Instagrams Dave Steve The Alliterates Bluesky Dave Steve Facebook Steve The Alliterates Lucid Fugue Buy our theme song Non-Euclidean Pornography | Lucid Fugue (bandcamp.com)

"They're glad to be your friend, they hate the public they defend, they call the shots from start to end, shots from start to end" this week we're looking at STRAWBERRIES (1982) by English goth band THE DAMNED

Send a text Strawberries is the fifth studio album by the English rock band the Damned. It was released in October 1982 by record label Bronze. Limited editions included a strawberry-scented lyric insert. The album reached No. 15 in the UK charts,[7] the band's first to reach the Top 20.[8] The record was released as the Damned were enjoying a higher public profile, thanks to the solo success of Captain Sensible. Sensible performed lead vocals on "Life Goes On" and "Don't Bother Me". He also introduced new instruments to the band, including sitar, and cello played by his then-girlfriend, Rachael Bor of the pop group Dolly Mixture. While Strawberries was generally praised for its positive, upbeat melodies, the album marked a time of conflict and division within the band. During the recording, bassist Paul Gray fought with drummer Rat Scabies over management and songwriting responsibilities.[9] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberries_(album) Support the show Check out our post-punk band The Alliterates new song The House Came Crashing Down on the Vol 1: Let's Begin compilation from Shift-Ctrl-Music Check out our cover of Child's Christmas in Wales (OG by John Cale) on Chaos For Christmas from Rejected Youth Records Steve's Website Our Instagrams Dave Steve The Alliterates Bluesky Dave Steve Facebook Steve The Alliterates Lucid Fugue Buy our theme song Non-Euclidean Pornography | Lucid Fugue (bandcamp.com)

"We're all in a melting ship, heading for planet Venus" this week our good friend Clayton brings in a live record from Zamrock band WITCH (We Intend To Cause Havoc)!

Send a text This album is part of a boxset from Third Man Live complied with other records from Jack White, Dinosaur Jr., and Mudhoney. I wasn't able to find this album for streaming anywhere so I compiled the studio versions of these songs into this playlist. If you'd like to pick this one up for yourself, check out Discogs! Witch (often stylized as WITCH or W.I.T.C.H.) are a Zamrock band formed in the 1970s. Widely seen as the most popular Zambian band of the 1970s, WITCH (a backronym for "We Intend To Cause Havoc"), was headed by lead vocalist Emanuel "Jagari" Chanda. The band formed during Zambia's post-independence golden days, but by the late 1970s, economic collapse and increasing government authoritarianism saw WITCH, like most Zamrock bands, fading away.[1] The band was revived in 2012 after reissues of their records became popular abroad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch_(Zamrock_band) Support the show Check out our post-punk band The Alliterates new song The House Came Crashing Down on the Vol 1: Let's Begin compilation from Shift-Ctrl-Music Check out our cover of Child's Christmas in Wales (OG by John Cale) on Chaos For Christmas from Rejected Youth Records Steve's Website Our Instagrams Dave Steve The Alliterates Bluesky Dave Steve Facebook Steve The Alliterates Lucid Fugue Buy our theme song Non-Euclidean Pornography | Lucid Fugue (bandcamp.com)

"I wish that I was born a thousand years ago I wish that I'd sailed the darkened seas." this week Sean brings in his nephew and we listen to the classic VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO (1967) self titled album. BANANA!!!!

Send a text The Velvet Underground & Nico is the debut studio album by the American rock band the Velvet Underground and the German singer Nico, released by Verve Records in March 1967. The album was recorded in 1966 on Ludlow Street, New York while the band were featured on Andy Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitable tour. Warhol, who designed the album's record sleeve, served as co-producer alongside Tom Wilson.  The Velvet Underground & Nico features elements of avant-garde music incorporated into brash, minimal and groove-driven rock music. Lead singer and songwriter Lou Reed delivers explicit lyrics spanning themes of drug abuse, prostitution, sadomasochism and urban life. Due to its abrasive, unconventional sound and controversial lyrical content, the album underperformed commercially and polarized critics upon release. Various record stores banned the album, many radio stations refused to play it, and magazines refused to carry advertisements for it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Velvet_Underground_%26_Nico Support the show Check out our post-punk band The Alliterates new song The House Came Crashing Down on the Vol 1: Let's Begin compilation from Shift-Ctrl-Music Check out our cover of Child's Christmas in Wales (OG by John Cale) on Chaos For Christmas from Rejected Youth Records Steve's Website Our Instagrams Dave Steve The Alliterates Bluesky Dave Steve Facebook Steve The Alliterates Lucid Fugue Buy our theme song Non-Euclidean Pornography | Lucid Fugue (bandcamp.com)

SEASON 3 DOUBLE FEATURE SPECTACULAR! TONIGHT WE'RE GONNA ROCK YOU TONIGHT! This week we're taking a look at the movie and soundtrack for THIS IS SPINAL TAP! (1984)

Send a text In memory of Rob and Michele Reiner, rest in peace This Is Spinal Tap is a 1984 American mockumentary comedy film directed by Rob Reiner in his feature directorial debut. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer play members of the fictional heavy metal band Spinal Tap.[3][4]Reiner plays Martin "Marty" Di Bergi, a documentary filmmaker following the band's American tour.  The film satirizes the behavior and musical pretensions of rock bands and the hagiographic tendencies of rock documentaries such as The Song Remains the Same (1976) and The Last Waltz (1978), similarly to what All You Need Is Cash(1978) by the Rutles did for the Beatles.[5] Reiner, Guest, McKean, and Shearer wrote the screenplay, though most of the dialogue was improvised and dozens of hours were filmed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Is_Spinal_Tap Support the show Check out our post-punk band The Alliterates new song The House Came Crashing Down on the Vol 1: Let's Begin compilation from Shift-Ctrl-Music Check out our cover of Child's Christmas in Wales (OG by John Cale) on Chaos For Christmas from Rejected Youth Records Steve's Website Our Instagrams Dave Steve The Alliterates Bluesky Dave Steve Facebook Steve The Alliterates Lucid Fugue Buy our theme song Non-Euclidean Pornography | Lucid Fugue (bandcamp.com)
