    Main Character Syndrome

    Have people forgotten how to people? In this episode of Side Quest Mamas, we’re diving headfirst into the strange reality that seems to be unfolding around us: people are ruder, more impatient, more self-absorbed, and somehow operating on what feels like full NPC mode. From strangers acting like basic manners are an optional DLC, to people staring through you while they scroll, drive, shop, work, and exist in their own little digital bubbles, we have questions. When did everyone stop saying excuse me? When did common courtesy become a rare achievement? And why does it sometimes feel like we’re surrounded by characters who are just waiting for someone to activate their dialogue tree? Maybe it’s Main Character Syndrome. Maybe it’s burnout. Maybe technology has rewired the way we interact with each other. Maybe we’re all just tired and slightly feral. Or… maybe the NPCs are glitching. We’re talking entitlement, rudeness, social autopilot, the loss of basic human interaction, and the increasingly bizarre feeling that everyone thinks they’re the main character in a world full of background characters. Grab your controller, watch out for random encounters, and try not to rage-quit humanity. Because apparently, manners are a side quest now.

We’re sharing dad stories, iconic dad logic, and the universal experience of being raised by someone who refuses to read instructions. Expect dad jokes, emotional whiplash, and a lot of love for the people who shaped us, even when they were emotionally unavailable but very committed to grilling. This one is equal parts laughter and appreciation, because fatherhood isn’t one thing, it’s a whole file system of chaos, effort, and showing up in your own weird way.
