Four veteran waitresses clap back in a new weekly comedy podcast where nothing's off the table other than the 15% tip we just stuffed into our apron. Hosted by Brooke Van Poppelen and Andrea Wallace featuring Joselyn Hughes and Kyle June Williams, the group uses their combined 50+ years of servitude, extensive careers in comedy (while waiting tables), and disdain for entitled Yelp culture to dish about the career that everyone should experience to be a decent human being. Side Work Podcast combines current events, trends in the service industry and food, and hilarious past anecdotes while featuring interviews from servers, bartenders and counter workers.

Ep. 61 "Acts of Aggression, Valentine's Gay, and MK Paulsen"

THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US. Okay, okay, okay it's just Valentine's Day 2020 and here we are still alive, maybe a bit more weary, maybe dreading working on this day/night of horror but Side Work is here FOR YOU. We of course want to pour some out for our server homies who have to go to war with a sea of amateur two tops tonight but then we explore all of the other disgusting ways this nefarious holiday has ruined other industries. Flowers and chocolate are evil. First time couples massage recipients don't tip. The list goes on and on. Thankfully with your Server Submitted Stories and hilarious guest co-host MK Paulsen - "a gay" - in his own words, we hope to inject some needed laughter into this notoriously terrible service day. God Speed and Good Tips! We LOVE you.

Ep. 60 "A Karen en Papillote and Maggie Maye"

Rat chat! Paper eating! What f*ckin' cake?!?! It's a new episode of Side Work! Today we have comedian and writer Maggie Maye join us mainly to shut down our dreams of talking about "southern hospitality" when she immediately corrects us that Texas (where she's from) is not the South. We do our best to discuss food, vibes, and service industry skills anyhow and have a ton of fun. Your Server Submitted Stories are top shelf as always, so keep submitting!

Ep. 59 "Omnibus Boys and Confessions of a Server"

We are back with a topic so obvious and integral to the job - BUSSERS. It's a complicated relationship we all have with the person who can truly impact whether the restaurant turns or burns. To talk about this nuanced position is Qualin Harris, aka Confessions of a Server who joins us to riff about work hustle in Toledo, OH. As always the Server Submitted Stories are next level so keep 'em comin'!

So good

I tip well because of this podcast! But what happened to Joselyn & Kyle? They just kind of abruptly disappeared off the show.

Mandatory listening

I love this podcast so much that I’m writing my very first review! These women are smart, insightful, hilarious, and hard workers! Everyone should have to listen to this show! Whether you’re a server and need to feel comradeship or you’re a customer and need to learn about what it’s like to tie that apron around your waist.

Team Rincon ,

Hilarious and amazing ladies

I found y’all through the Smart Mouth podcast and immediately fell in love. I’ve never been a waitress but I have worked in a sandwich shop and dippin dogs stall so the food industry isn’t a huge mystery. Thank you for sharing your stories with everyone.
