Sidecountry Sisters

Danica Crow & Cassidy Sheek

Brought to you by a set of sisters by law! Sidecountry Sisters is hosted by Danica Crow and Cassidy Sheek. Sidecountry Sisters is an outdoor podcast where people who have an interest in the outdoors can come to learn and laugh as they hear stories and content pertaining to the outdoors, whether that be a historical, true crime, or an adventure story or maybe advice from an expert (or someone more experienced). We are two sister-in-laws who would consider ourselves mediocre outdoors women. We enjoy being outdoors and creating our own adventures, but are by no means experts in anything outdoors….or really anything in life at all. We hope to create a space where individuals from all backgrounds can join us as we learn and immerse ourselves more into the outdoor culture as well.

    S2 Ep3 - It's Leaf Peepin' szn, y'all!

Leaf Peepin' is the time in CO (and in many other states in the U.S & Canada) where people flock form near and far to experience the change of seasons through the changing of the leaves. The Aspens in Colorado shift their green, shimmering, coin-like leaves into a vibrant yellow-gold, and it lasts for such a short time you'll be tempted to call out of work and head for the mountains to see them! It's basically your modern day gold rush, that lasts for just a month! Sure the traffic is awful on the weekends, but the views can't be beat. If you want to know more than your friends about Aspens for your hikes, or just want to know where to go to get the best views, then join us for episode 3! *Content Warning: Please be advised that this episode contains mentions of acts of domestic violence and its fatal consequences. If you are sensitive to this content, or are a survivor who may be overwhelmed or triggered by this content, please skip ahead or do not listen. The mentions of this begin at 6 minutes 15 seconds into the podcast, and lasts until 14 minutes 35 seconds. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence and needs support, please call 1-800-799-7233.* Episode Notes & Resources: https://www.visitcos.com/blog/aspen-hikes/ https://dayhikesneardenver.com/fall-color-aspen-hikes/ https://www.coloradohikesandhops.com/blog/best-colorado-destinations-to-see-aspens-fall-colors-hikes-and-drives https://303magazine.com/2017/09/fall-hikes-colorado/ https://kdvr.com/denver-guide/fall/colors/map-colorado-forecast-2024-peak-colors/ https://www.explorefall.com/states/colorado.html https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map https://www.westword.com/arts/get-outside-ten-best-hikes-fall-colors-colorado-14955448 https://www.alltrails.com/lists/20-colorado-hikes-for-spectacular-fall-color https://kdvr.com/denver-guide/fall/colors/which-trees-turn-which-colors-in-colorado/ https://conps.org/project/aspen-forest/#:~:text=The%20largest%20aspen%20grove%20in,grown%20from%20a%20single%20seed. https://www.rxlist.com/supplements/aspen.htm#:~:text=Overview,neuralgia https://www.thehotline.org/
