This review covers two primary aspects of this podcast.
1.) An over-all look at the hosts knowledge & information presented and their methods of analyzing each case…
2.) The dramatized story & voice acting narration portion as presented.
After recently discovering this podcast I was very pleased to learn it incorporated some voice acting and narration style, instead of just people discussing cases. That being said, I’m a long time serious student of both the paranormal and cryptozoology fields. Therefore this is a serious review, based are far more than just entertainment value of a podcast on this subject.
1. Hosts apparent knowledge and information of the cases presented:
This is where this podcast fails miserably. No ‘ands, ifs or buts’ about it.
After the narration portion wraps up, they discuss personal theories regarding the case. In every case I remember, having recently listening to most of them, their entire analysis lacks even a shred of knowledge on the subject of the paranormal. It’s quite apparent they have precisely NO knowledge base at all on the subject. It’s also therefore not much of a surprise to hear them conclude, case after case, episode after episode, the same kind of common, blanket dismissal, of these cases being legitimate. Even worse, in what many will consider basically a ‘high school’ level & immature analysis, the most common failure they site as their “proof” to the claims being false, is the presenters failure to offer what they call “hard scientific proof”, in way of pics & documents etc.. Everyone familiar with legitimate paranormal research knows pics are 1 in a million, and there’s far more ways than pics to establish credibility. (Except for these two doing their uninformed analysis) They also fail to site any other cases that align specifically with the cases they analyze. (Which is corroborating in its own way) So no, they stick to their high school methods of denial due to lack of pics in most cases. They also fail to mention many important details of cases, while proceeding to often laugh and discredit the cases. This aspect literally destroys any value of this podcast, at least to any serious listeners who are looking for an intriguing, thought provoking discussion during the case review. Unfortunately for me and I’m sure many others, their lack of knowledge and almost flippant attitude towards the subject, is a quick and major disappointment and for me, solidified my decision to stop listening to further episodes.
2. As for the voice acting narration, the one host does a great job on this. It’s entertaining, imaginative, and puts the listeners imagine to work. Certainly the highlight of the podcast. The downside is, the other host, who writes the narrations for the voice actor host to narrate, takes HUGE liberties to the stories, embellishing the stories and even adding huge portions that never happened! With everything in mind, the narrations can only be listened to if you understand that the host has added false details to the factual story. This is very disappointing again! As for the voice actor host himself? He does a great job voice acting the stories out.
… All that being said, this podcast may be good to some for entertainment value? But is NOT good for those will a real interest in these cases.
The voice acting is good, their analysis are immature and terrible. The facts of each case are both often missed and highly embellished, so cant be taken as heard.
I’m almost sorry to have to write such a poor review, because I had high hopes that I had found an intelligent podcast on the subject in this case. Unfortunately, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
