    Welcome to the first ever episode of the Silver Dagger podcast! The banshee is Ireland’s best-known spook, whose roots can be traced back to dim pre-history. The banshee wails to warn of looming death – sometimes with sorrow, and sometimes with malice. In this episode, we look at the ancient and modern folklore about the banshee, where and when she is seen (or heard), and the families she is said to follow. We hear some of the stories and knowledge about the banshee collected or recounted by key authorities including poet W. B. Yeats, folklorist Lady Jayne Wilde, Victorian ghost-hunter Elliot O’Donnell and more. This is part one in a four-part series on the banshee.
