227 Simulcast Journal Club August 2026

Join us for the August edition of the Simulcast Journal Club, hosted by Vic Brazil and Ben Symon. This was a throwback episode!  As part of celebrating our 10 years of doing the journal club together we decided to look back at papers from our first year of the journal club. The conversation is a recap of the articles, but also some thoughts on how they sit in the subsequent 10 years of simulation practice.      The July papers  Cheng A, Morse KJ, Rudolph J, Arab AA, Runnacles J, Eppich W. Learner-centered debriefing for health care simulation education: lessons for faculty development. Simul Healthc. 2016;11(1):32-40. doi:10.1097/SIH.0000000000000136.   And our 2016 discussion here   Peterson DT, Watts PI, Epps CA, White ML. Simulation faculty development: a tiered approach. Simul Healthc. 2017;12(4):254-259. doi:10.1097/SIH.0000000000000225.  And our 2017 Debrief 2 Learn cross over podcast with Adam Cheng and Dawn Taylor -Petersen here   Marshall SD. Helping experts and expert teams perform under duress: an agenda for cognitive aid research. Anaesthesia. 2017;72(3):289-295. doi:10.1111/anae.13707.   The 2017 discussion on our third journal club podcast here   Härgestam M, Lindkvist M, Brulin C, Jacobsson M, Hultin M. Communication in interdisciplinary teams: exploring closed-loop communication during in situ trauma team training. BMJ Open. 2013;3:e003525. doi:10.1136/bmjopen-2013-003525.   Our 2017 chat on the same paper here .  And a tangential link to closed loop communication training in veterinary simulation here 😊    Happy listening!   Vb    Also ….. Your next simulation conference – National Health Simulation Conference 2026. QT Gold Coast, Australia.  October 21-22  Registration open now - HERE
