    Prop 36: Don't Believe the Hype

    Welcome back to Sincerely with Sam Lewis, a podcast exploring the most pressing issues in criminal justice reform. This week, host and CEO of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, Sam Lewis, speaks to a panel of experts about California's upcoming ballot initiative, Prop 6, which threatens California's progress in criminal justice reform. Tinisch Hollins (Executive Director, Californians for Safety and Justice) shares that real public safety comes from investing in crime prevention and rehabilitation, not from spending more on prisons. Prop 36 would diminish these important efforts. Mike Males (Senior Researcher, Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice) shares his research showing that crime rates in California remain near historic lows and the false narrative driving that perception.  Then, David Barclay (ARC Life Coach) and Isabella Suleiman (ARC Policy Fellow) speak about the importance of programs funded by Prop 47 savings, such as Project imPACT, which provides prevention, treatment, and reentry services to formerly incarcerated people in California.
