    Ep. 10: Matt Lounsbury

Matt Lounsbury is the President of Proud Mary Coffee USA, one of the most exciting and significant global specialty coffee brands to emerge in the past few decades. A longtime resident of Portland, OR, Matt has been an influential figure in the local food & beverage scene since the early 2000s - most known for his role as the VP of Stumptown Coffee Roasters up until 2017, where he helped the company go from a relatively small, well-loved local coffee roaster to one of the most recognizable and impactful coffee companies in the US, with landmark cafés in major cities all across the country. As the Global Head of Brand for Proud Mary, Matt continues to oversee the operations of PMC’s cafés and roasteries in Austin and Portland, and helps Proud Mary continue to cement themselves as one of the standout “gold-standards” for incredible hospitality and uncompromising excellence in coffee today. In this conversation, we explore Matt’s perspective as an early-onlooker into Portland in the early 2000s, how it has changed, his experience with Stumptown and the lessons he’s carried with him into the present, where specialty coffee is headed in the future, lessons learned through Proud Mary’s recent crowd-funding campaign, and even what inspires him as an artist and musician in his band (Hello Damascus), and so much more. Recorded at the Proud Mary Coffee Roastery in Portland, Oregon. Ep. 07: Kelley Roy

Kelley Roy is the founder and creative director of Art Design Xchange (ADX) in Portland, OR. A fearless, passionate, and wildly creative force in the PDX community, Kelley has spent the last fifteen years doing exactly what she does best - hold space for artists and makers, and empower them to grow and succeed through collaborative environments that bring people together. In this conversation, Matthieu and Kelley get into the story arc of ADX, what Kelley’s own personal journey as an entrepreneur and creative has looked like along the way, and reflections on where society is headed and how we can affect positive change in our communities, among many other things. ADX functions as a large maker’s space where members get access to equipment and studios where they can practice their art alongside each other, motivating and inspiring new ideas and giving them the tools to do even more than they possibly could on their own. A bustling event space and meeting place in the heart of the city, ADX is one of the driving forces behind the rich and thriving art community of Portland - due in large part to Kelley’s unwavering commitment to building community rather than chasing profit, and her unyielding resolve to encourage others to do their best work, no matter what.
