I have spent the last eight years creatively advocating for victims and families of the missing and murdered community. I started with a blog and then delved into working with families directly through podcasting. Over the last 2 years, I have branched into videos as well, which you can find on my Sipping on Some Crime YouTube channel. My podcast went down for a few years, but I am bringing back all those episodes and adding new ones from my current 50 State Cold Case Spotlight series, which is currently in season 2. Please bear with me while I load in all the previous episodes and the new ones as we go. If there are any updates with any episodes from my original library, I will make sure to include that in the description. I am the writer, the researcher, editor, and the producer of all sipping on some crime projects, a one-woman band, so it does take me some time to get everything loaded. I just recently started trying to write my own music for my episodes, which is why you’ll hear the intro change for a few episodes until episode 17. I cover all types of cases; I have no prerequisites for cases. I cover mostly unsolved cases, but I have covered solved cases and historical cases as well. I believe every victim, survivor, and loved one's story deserves to be told, and every one deserves to be brought home. As I say at the end of every single episode, every time you see a missing and murdered person's post on social media, it’s important that you share because every time we share a face, we get closer to solving a case, and I genuinely believe that.

    4 missing girls, 3 unsolved cases this week in Illinois

    This week I am covering three cases out of Illinois Cases featured: *Yasmin Rayon Acree The lock on the fence and the basement door had been cut and 15-year-old Yasmin Acree was gone. All of her belongings were still there, even her glasses but investigators classified her as a runaway, not collecting essential evidence in her case. When investigators finally decided to take a deeper look into Yasmin’s case, they found a neighbor mentioned in her diaries twice, a neighbor who was recently paroled from prison for attempted murder who admitted to taking a liking to Yasmin. He was later arrested for multiple sexual assaults and kidnappings including two 14-year-old girls… 18 years later, Yasmin’s case remains unsolved *Amelia Jo Zelko (Molly) Molly was a trailblazing journalist who did not stand down even when she was threatened by the mafia. She was the editor and journalist at the Spectator in 1957 and she and her partner William used that newspaper to call out the criminal underworld and how they were controlling police and politicians to get away with illegal gambling. William had already been severely beaten as a warning for the pair to stop, but it didn’t stop Molly. Nothing stopped Molly until she vanished on a late September night in 1957. Molly was a prominent figure and rumors began to swirl the moment the press realized she was missing with headlines questioning if she ran away, if she was abducted, if she was murdered, everybody had a theory and hot take on what happened to Molly yet 69 years later her case remains unsolved. * Two girls went missing in Illinois 10 years apart and investigators say there are many similarities between the two cases.     Abduction, suicide, and disappearances on this week's Idaho Spotlight

    Idaho Spotlight Full Week Case featured this week… *He abducted a girl from a trampoline in the middle of the night, is he also responsible for Amber’s disappearance… In the summer of 2002, a young girl was abducted from her trampoline in the early morning hours. After being assaulted for hours she escaped that afternoon after her abductor left for work immediately leading investigators back to his home. When investigators attempted to arrest him, he led them on a 40-mile high-speed chase throughout the city that ended at a dead-end road where he shot and killed a police dog and shot and wounded an officer before turning the gun on himself. But that wasn’t the end, it wouldn’t take long for investigators to discover that this likely wasn't his only victim and that he had some undeniable connections to Amber Hoopes 20 who went missing six months prior in the same area. *His wife went missing and he committed suicide In March 1977 Diane 22 vanished from her home while her husband Fred was at work. When investigators arrived at the couple's home, they noted that there was no indication of a struggle or forced entry and all of Diane’s belongings were still there. After investigators interviewed family, friends, and neighbors it seemed like Diane and Fred had a good relationship. Yet just a week after her disappearance, Fred committed suicide, leaving a note behind saying that he could not live without his wife leaving investigators to believe he may have murdered his wife. *She vanished on her way home… The bouncer escorted 31-year-old Linda to her car at 1 am. He watched her enter her 1973 Ford Thunderbird and drive out of the parking lot heading towards her home. Around 2 am, Linda’s car was spotted on the side of the road, parked next to another vehicle, and a witness said they heard a man and a woman arguing. Linda never made it home and was reported missing by her husband later in the day. Investigators do have a suspect in her case who was known to frequent the club where Linda worked, but despite that, her case remains unsolved.     Three Unsolved Cases in Hawaii that still need the public's help to be solved

    Hawaii Spotlight Full Week I covered three ases this week in Hawaii, the cases include… * The girl who vanished by the cliffs… The last contact Laura Vogel, 43, had with anyone was with a friend she texted, explaining that she was camping down the way from the birthing pools and meeting all the locals. However, when she vanished, and investigators canvassed the area, not a single person, including other campers, remembered seeing her. But Laura was there; in fact, a few days after her disappearance, they began finding traces of Laura’s belongings by the cliffs and her vehicle close by at a homeless camp. Laura’s family knows that someone saw her that night and believes that there’s likely more than one person who knows what happened to her. From the beginning, Laura's family has been fighting for investigators to do more in her case, and 16 years later, her case remains unsolved. *When her husband came home she was gone, but her sister believes he knows what happened to her… Kimberly Jacobs 47 vanished in August 2008, leaving behind all of her identification and personal belongings. Investigators say that her husband has been ruled out as a suspect and has been cooperative from the very beginning, but Kimberly's family, specifically her sister has made it clear they believe he’s responsible for her disappearance. Her case remains unsolved. *They were found riddled with bullets down a fern-covered trail. Who killed the young couple and why… On March 25th 1981 John Klein 28 was found lying shirtless on his back with his wife Michelle 25 lying over his body as if she was trying to protect him. The young couple from California were found down a narrow fern-covered trail in the forest reserve above Wailua riddled with bullets. 45 years later and investigators still don’t have a motive or suspect in their case, and have been left with more questions than answers.     Four Georgia Cases you might not have heard of…

    Cases featured on this week's episode: Mary White Mary’s boyfriend believed in her aspirations to become a writer so much that he gave her 7,000 to help her finish her book. That 7000 would lead investigators to believe that Mary planned her mysterious disappearance, but her family believes something awful happened to her and that some of her friends might know more than they are saying. In 2004, Mary White, 37, was a mother of two, working at an airport restaurant in Atlanta, modeling, acting, and writing a book. While Mary enjoyed modeling and acting, her greatest aspiration was to be a writer, and her boyfriend believed she could do it. He gifted her 7000 that year so she could finish her book. On July 1, 2004, around 10 PM. Mary dropped off an acquaintance in the 1500 block of Olympia Way in Southwest Atlanta. That was the last time anyone saw or heard from her. Lisa Marie Wallace Geise Lisa, 26, had returned to her job in the evening to finish the inventory by herself. The following morning, when fellow employees arrived, they found ankle-deep water in the building and a pool of blood near Lisa's desk, but Lisa was nowhere to be found. It was 1989, and the water damage hindered investigators from pulling DNA evidence from the scene, making it impossible to tie evidence to two solid suspects that, in 2016, investigators stated they just needed one piece of evidence to tip the scales in the right direction. Mary Shotwell Little and Diane Shields In 1965 a pretty young new bride named Mary mysteriously vanished from a popular shopping center in Atlanta leaving behind a bizarre crime scene leading investigators and the FBI to question if it was all staged. As they dug deeper into Mary’s life they began to uncover even more strange connections, behaviors, and suspects. A year into their investigation an officer finds a young woman Diane brutally murdered outside a laundromat. Investigators and reporters quickly pointed out the eerie similarities in their cases, but it went further than just a few similarities: the two of them shared friends and a job. Were Mary and Diane targeted by the same person, and if so why? I will be doing this in two parts because of how much information there is and I like to give each case an individual spotlight.     Who took 5 Jacksonville girls, and are they all connected?

    For three months in 1974, five young girls ranging from 8 to 12 were mysteriously abducted from Jacksonville, Florida. Investigators, then and now, are still trying to determine whether they are all connected. In the summer of 1974, just a few weeks after Jeanie Schoen, 8, was abducted from a Jacksonville laundromat, Mylette Anderson, 11, and her sister Annette, 6, would vanish from their Jacksonville home in a 20-minute window. A few weeks later, another young girl named Virginia is abducted on her way to the grocery store; this time there are witnesses and evidence. While investigators are searching for Virginia, another girl is taken on her way to the grocery store. Rebecca went missing just a few weeks after Virginia, and her case quickly goes from a missing investigation to a homicide when Virginia's body is found.     Alabama Unsolved Cases Spotlight

    Alabama season 2 of the 50 State Cold Case Spotlight. In today's episode, I'll be featuring 5 Unsolved Cases that still need the public's help. Each of these cases needs more media and social media attention to generate the tips and leads to finally solve their cases! Cases featured: 📍Christina Lynn Carter In September 1973, Christiana Carter, 3, and her mother, Janet, disappeared from Hueytown, Alabama. Janet was recently divorced from Christina's father and had planned a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. When they didn’t return as planned, they were reported missing. There was no sign of the two until October 7th when Janet's remains were found bound and stuffed into a duffel bag 50 miles from Winston-Salem and Christina was nowhere to be found. To this day, nobody has been arrested in Janet's death and we still don’t know what happened to Christina. 📍Ieasha Abrams Ieasha Abrams 34 had gone through some struggles but had finally gotten her life on a solid track. She was trying to do right by her three children when her remains were discovered behind her Birmingham Alabama apartment complex in October 2017. Investigators told reporters in 2018 that they were close to cracking her case and that they had a solid suspect, they just needed the public to come forward with more information. 📍Sherry Ann Milton There are two versions of what happened to Sherry Milton 26 in August of 2005 but what's clear is she was last seen at a gas station in Ensley Alabama. Despite conflicting stories, investigators quickly determined two people of interest in her case, but there are still no official suspects at this point and her case remains unsolved. 📍Haleigh Breann Culwell and Kimberly Whitton Kimberley Whitton 36 and her daughter Haleigh Culwell 11 were last seen in June of 2007. Kimberley’s husband Barry told investigators that Kimberly and Haleigh left their home in a white Ford or van truck with Alabama license plates shortly after Kimberly got home from work. He said he gave her $20,000 in cash and never saw the pair after that. He told investigators he believed they were headed to Montana. What Kimberly likely didn’t know about her husband Barry and investigators would soon discover was that her husband, Haleigh’s stepfather, was the main suspect in his first wife’s murder. His first wife, whom he also told investigators, just left him one day. Haleigh and Kimberly's case remains unsolved. 📍Tarasha Benjamin Tarasha Benjamin 17 Family faced so much tragedy before she vanished in June of 2010. Two of her siblings died in a house fire when they were just three and four years old and two years before Tarasha vanished her father vanished. His remains were found behind a restaurant in Selma, Alabama, and to this day it’s reported that it is unclear what happened to him. Tarasha's sudden vanishing has left her family with even more heartache and unanswered questions.

    Connecticut Unsolved Cases Spotlight

    This week in the 50 State Cold Case Spotlight Series we are in Connecticut. Here are all 4 cases featured this week in one video. Cases featured: Bob Hart a mechanic on his way home to see his wife for lunch, was gunned down by a hitchhiker who darts off into the woods. To this day, the hitchhiker has never been identified, and we still don’t know why he attacked Bob. Margo Olsen 24 was murdered in a particularly cruel way. She was shot with arrows before being buried in a shallow grave. Investigators had a solid suspect but when he died in an attempted robbery weeks later they closed the case. But investigators may have been focusing on the wrong suspect. Doreen Vincent’s father told investigators that he and his 12-year-old daughter got into an argument on a late evening in June of 1988 and that Doreen walked out the front door taking some of her belongings with her. Initially, her case was treated as a runaway, but as investigators began to take a deeper look, they realized that someone close to Doreen likely had something to do with her disappearance, and her father's story kept changing. April Grisanti was last seen being forced into her ex-boyfriend's car. April had recently broken up with him and her family and friends state that her ex was extremely abusive. Her family is still searching for her and believes there are those in the community they know where her remains are.     She told her mom she was pregnant by an older man, then vanished. Where is Danielle Bell?

    Danielle Bell was last seen in September 2001 at a party on the 500 block of Cedar Tree Lane and Highway 95A in Cantonment, Florida Witnesses who attended that party with Danielle would tell investigators that they last saw Danielle leave the party with a man who was in his mid-20s at the time. It wouldn’t be until six years later, in 2007, that Alfredo Gomez Sanchez Junior would be charged with providing law enforcement with false statements about his whereabouts on the day and time of Danielle’s disappearance. Alfredo is currently serving time for lewd and lascivious acts against a minor, and one of those charges is for Danielle Bell specifically; however they have been able to charge him in her disappearance. I sat down with Danielle’s big sister, Bonnie, to learn more about her sister and what’s happened so far with Danielle's investigation in the last 25 years. Bonnie has made big strides pushing her sister’s case forward, and things are actively developing.
