Sister Station

Hosted by Muminah Koleoso, a Yoruba Nigerian-British Muslim and multi-award-winning writer, poet, journalist, and content creator, Sister Station is a podcast that amplifies the voices, stories, and lived experiences of Black and Muslim women, and women of colour. This is a space for open, thoughtful, and uplifting conversations about identity, culture, creativity, faith, careers, and everything in between. Whether you’re working, commuting, doing some chores around the house, or unwinding after a long day, you can tune in for some thought-provoking discussions and personal reflections. Each episode begins with the story behind a name and its meaning, and ends with a little something to take away: a book recommendation, a quote, or words of advice. Books & Banter ft. Zarin Khan

In this episode, I’m joined by another lovely guest, my friend Zarin Khan! We talk about how we met, our respective STEM backgrounds and shared love for reading and writing. We also explore the literary representation of Muslims and people of colour, as well as the challenges of pursuing projects publicly without letting the fear of judgement and societal expectations weigh us down. Expect honest convos, a little laughter, and some food for thought. _________________ Zarin is a British-Bangladeshi chemical engineer with a background in pharmaceuticals, who also loves to write stories! She has recently won the Faber Academy Scholarship and is studying the 'Finish Your Draft' 2025 course, designed to support writers to finish their first draft and hone their editorial eye. When not writing, she can be found at the gym, punching a boxing bag and daydreaming about what it would be like to be six foot tall and buff. Zarin is also going to be starting her own podcast, called This Stays Between Us, centred on uplifting South Asian voices and telling the stories stitched into womanhood. You can find her on LinkedIn and Instagram @this_st4ys_between_us. _________________ Resource Round-Up: Lia's Guide to Winning the Lottery by Keren David The Pharmacy from Ola Labib | Channel 4 Comedy Blap Black Girls Write Too (@bgwritetoo) Salutation Road by Salma Ibrahim.  _________________ You can follow Sister Station on our socials: LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, BlueSky and Threads: https://linktr.ee/sisterstation  And you can find your host, Muminah, on LinkedIn, Instagram & YouTube: https://linktr.ee/minahsmusings For more information about Be the change.
