When today's guest became pregnant with her daughter she sobbed to a friend "how was she going to take care of one when she had given up another" Latoya Mathews shares her abortion story, how post-partum depression along with guilt and shame of her abortion came alive after having her daughter, and how she has turned her pain into power by helping other post-abortive women eliminate shame, guilt, and regret of their abortions.     415 - Losing a Baby during the Holidays with Janelle Jones

    From middle school to high school to adult hood who knew losing babies would bring friends together. Today's guest is my friend from middle school and high school and her strength sharing her story on Facebook inspired me to share mine. Janelle Jones is a women's ministry leader at her church, singer, and has a testimony to share of overcoming loss, depression, and grief. She gave birth to her son in 2008 and a daughter in 2009 that she thought she was going to have to give up for adoption. Janelle heard from God to keep her baby girl and did not understand why until she lost her on Christmas Eve 2009. In today's episode, we go back to Janelle's decision to give her daughter up for adoption, losing her during the Holiday season, and how her friendships have stood the test of time.     411 - Blighted Ovum and Secondary Infertility with Angelica Gunn

    Have you heard of the term blighted ovum? A blighted ovum happens when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine wall, but the embryo does not develop. Cells develop to form the pregnancy sac, but not the embryo itself. A blighted ovum occurs within the first trimester, often before a woman knows she is pregnant. Today's guest experienced a blighted ovum on her secondary infertility journey. Angelica Gunn had her miracle daughter after experiencing preeclampsia and a NICU stay, she was ready to grow her family. After months of trying with no diagnosis she found out she was pregnant at her 7 week appointment there was no heartbeat. Angelica waited until 12 weeks for an ultrasound to find out she had a blighted ovum a sac without an embryo. She then experienced two more difficult miscarriages before getting pregnant with her rainbow baby. In this episode Angelica takes us on her secondary infertility journey, her 3 miscarriages, and her rainbow pregnancy journey.     410 - October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month! Intrauterine Growth Restriction and Infant Loss with Laura Gooch Brown

    October is Pregnancy, Infant and Child Loss Awareness Month.  All month long we will honor our babies gone to heaven far too soon.  This month is special because you get to hear from our Sisters in Loss Birth, Bereavement and Postpartum Doulas!  Yes, you get to hear the ladies share their testimonies and stories to motherhood and why they became Sisters in Loss doulas and how they liked the course.  Have you heard of the term Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)? Intrauterine Growth Restriction is a condition in which a baby doesn't grow to normal weight during pregnancy. Causes of intrauterine growth restriction vary but include placenta abnormalities, high blood pressure in the mother, infections, and smoking or alcohol abuse. With this condition, a baby is born weighing less than 90 percent of other babies at the same gestational age. Today's guest experienced two early miscarriages, and determined to become a mother lost over 130 pounds in hopes of reducing any barriers to having a healthy baby.  Laura Gooch Brown was able to conceive a baby boy Jaden and during the last trimester they were diagnosed with Intrauterine Growth Restriction and Jaden would not survive.  In this episode she recalls her specialists visits for different opinions and received the same prognosis.  During a scheduled amniocentesis she learned that Jaden's heart had stopped and she had to deliver him the following day.  Laura shares in this episode what it was like during her two year wait to conceive her rainbow baby boy Jordan, her pregnancy and delivery with him, and how she is giving back to her community by becoming a Sisters in Loss Birth and Bereavement Doula.
