"A Mess of Pottage" - General Conference Recap

Why is it so easy to sell your salvation for such inconsequential things?

Sky and Preston discuss their favorite insights from October 2021 General Conference and major themes they noticed.  Chief among them was the parallel from the Biblical story of Esau giving up his birthright for a "mess of pottage".

    Repentance Over "Authenticity"

    Repentance Over "Authenticity"

Preston and Sky have heard many times that they aren't being their "authentic" selves, because they are gay and in relationships with women.  What does our culture classify as "authentic",  and should we prioritize, even at the expense of repenting?

We discuss our experience finding our truly authentic selves through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

    Feeling Inspired to Sin

    Feeling Inspired to Sin

Would God ever give you personal revelation that goes contrary to His commandments?  We certainly don't think so.  Like many of you, we've noticed the rise of the "live your truth" crowd within the church who pushes the idea of a subjective, buffet-style approach to living the gospel.  We're here to fight against that perversion of truth and advocate for the simple, profound truths of Christ's teachings.

Game changer

This podcast has been so great to share with my parents and help them understand more about being inclusive and understanding of all of God’s children. I love how respectful the conversation is toward every point of view. This message needs to be shared!

Truth

I got got know Preston when he served in our ward for 10 months when he was on his mission. He stood out then as leader with a big heart, spiritual maturity, a great understanding of the gospel and one who really knows Jesus Christ.
After learning more about his background and experiences I appreciate him even more. He has a great talent or gift for sharing his knowledge in a way that seeks to include everyone. He is a natural in front of the microphone and has so much to offer - get ready to learn and grow as you listen. (And that Sky guy is pretty awesome too.)

Refreshing

It’s nice to listen to someone who has a different perspective on things within the gospel but has come to the same conclusion of its truthfulness. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to learn more about how to best navigate “the lgbt issue” and the church, but also anyone that just wants to listen to a good LDS podcast.
