How The UCI Stole Her Shot at The 2024 Olympics - Chelsea Wolfe

Chelsea Wolfe is a BMX Freestyle Athlete who was ranked Top 5 in the world leading into the World Championships in 2023. She suddenly got news overnight that she could no longer compete under new UCI legislation that extended to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  Chelsea's entire life was turned upside down in an instant after having based her financial livelihood and the bulk of her existence around competing internationally in freestyle BMX when she was informed she'd no longer be able to compete in the sport she loved so much.  Chelsea talks us through that experience, what it was like to re-evaluate her whole life's work, her relationship with the bike, competition, and herself and ultimately has great insight into approaching topics from a HUMAN perspective.  This was such an insightful conversation. Chelsea is a fantastic competitor and we're excited to see her back out and competing in the world of fixed gear racing.  We hope that you give this one a full listen and enjoy the conversation and Chelsea's perspective as much as we did.  If you'd like to follow Chelsea's adventures in Freestyle BMX or learn more about her life, hit her up on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chelseawolfebmx Read more on Chelsea and her story: https://www.bicycling.com/racing/a44772359/chelsea-wolfe/?fbclid=PAAabV6AM3_yFYjI2-D7lO6LHfXTj865vcbFj-8muNfVI5jvmMlmz3wQrh0P4_aem_AZSxdX2kHSTm_MZH2wgX5dEKERzeIOxZST35au5T9QE7NFpxV-BWI1-s46DSIkmAksM Don't forget, we're also available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all other major streaming platforms.  Follow us on Instagram for clips! https://www.instagram.com/sitting.in.podcast/ Thumbnail courtesy of: https://www.instagram.com/armandlenoir Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Tik Tok: https://www.instagram.com/sitting.in.podcast/ https://www.tiktok.com/@sitting.in.podcast

James is the founder of Mission Crit that was a popular fixed gear criterium race in San Francisco that drew crowds of thousands before the pandemic in 2020.  After that, James went on to lead the Red Bull Bay Climb and Red Bull Short Circuit. From Underground Fixie Racer to Pillar of The American Criterium Scene - Dante Young

This week we got the opportunity to sit down with Dante Young of the Miami Blazers. Dante has been a professional cyclist primarily racing on the US Criterium Circuit. Dante originally gained popularity racing in the fixed gear criterium scene all over the world at major events like Red Hook and the Rad Race.  Dante then moved toward Criterium racing in the United States and joined L39ion of Los Angeles where he was able to absorb knowledge from the likes of Justin and Cory Williams, Rahsaan Bahati, and other mentors in the sport.  Over time Dante has become quite successful as both a lead out man, and collected many wins on his own. Growing up right here in Southern California offered Dante many challenges when he was young. We talked about how he avoided getting wrapped up in gang activity, managed to stay clean and sober, and ultimately has blazed a trail as a professional athlete via cycling.  Thanks again for coming on Dante and we hope that you all enjoy this episode and Dante's unique perspective on the sport of American Crit Racing as much as we did.  We can't wait to see what this dude does for the future of criterium racing not only here in the US but globally, as well.  Keep inspiring youth and keep engaging with the community.  Connect with Dante on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/danteyoung__/ Thumbnail by: https://www.instagram.com/KITKARZEN Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Tik Tok: https://www.instagram.com/sitting.in.podcast/ https://www.tiktok.com/@sitting.in.podcast
