    At the 34m42s Mark, Listen at 1.5x Speed

    Read this week's title. We encourage all listeners to make this week's episode more listenable by increasing the playback speed to 1.5x at the 34m42s mark. We are not making this suggestion because the quality of the show will be enhanced, or because Pat and Nicky will sound funnier because their voices have a higher pitch, although some might find that to be true. We here at Slow Pitch are admitting to have published a boring episode halfway through recording, . Now, we still want our audience to enjoy the full episode, so we have suggested that they speed up the episode to make listening to it a little more bearable. Even though after 30 seconds you're just another data point for us to brag about on next week's episode as our reach soars beyond Nicky's family tree. At the 34m42s mark is the beginning of this week's lesson. This week's lesson is Player Endorsements. Most of the lesson revolves around a brief history of baseball player endorsements and forcing our producer to Google search examples of players and shoes. It's the kind of podcasting that thrives within Austin city limits. One could even make the argument that a baseball themed podcast reaching into dull commentary and filling time just to get to the end of the pastime is incredibly on brand. We certainly know that Nicky tried convincing himself of such before publishing. However, we want to continue a good faith with our listenership, so it has been decided, from ownership, that we must encourage all listeners to increase the playback speed to 1.5x at 34m42s. If you listen to the episode at normal speed and are angered at the sluggish material then you can blame yourself for lacking trust in a podcast episode description.     Promotions Night!

    It's Promotions Night a Slow Pitch. In the history of media the 5th episode of a show is make or break, and like the 5th episode of The Sopranos, we included a rat in this episode to make it more interesting. We also have a certified guest, Eric Anthony, to give us the insight of the riveting life of working pyrotechnics at a baseball game just so one can advance their career to professional musicians. Before all the fireworks though, we check in on Pat's week as a Brewers fan, and give him a spark of history on how promotions make baseball baseball.

    League of Extraordinary Understanding

    Nicky knows what the American League and the National League are because he doesn't know a time when he didn't know what the AL and NL were. Pat knows nil of either, and that's the last time you will hear any reference to soccer in regard to this podcast, as long as you disregard the homonymnal title. By the end of this podcast, Pat is going to be able to have casual conversation with drunks in their 90s who still think the two leagues are distinct, and will later blow their mind when he explains podcasting.     It's Peezy's first week as a Brewers fan, and we quiz him on how hoppy he's feeling to be a part of the Brew Crew. One of baseball's most misunderstood rules is taught in the infield fly rule. A rule created because a soul's intentions weren't good. We're supposed to tell people to like and subscribe. Don't forget to catch a baseball game while the world's eyes are on the World Cup.

    This week at Slow Pitch we take Pat through the journey of choosing an MLB team to root for the rest of the 2026 season. We give him options to choose from and let him pick, but our producers had already made the slide congratulating him on his new team. Did we pick the same team that Pat picked after the examination?     Pine Tar Pilot

    Welcome to the first episode of Slow Pitch. Nick Saverino (Nicky Savs) attempts to create a new baseball fan in Pat Sirous (Peezy, "Lie Cheat and Steal" podcast, "How Comedian Pat Fell in a Hole" TikTok virality). Nicky teaches Peezy of the 1983 Pine Tar incident in his piloted attempt to create a passionate baseball fan. We originally wanted to name this episode "New York Nicky Bockers" in reference to the first organized baseball team, but it had nothing to do with the actual episode other than it's the first episode. Most folks suggested that pitching your first episode with a title "too inside" baseball would brush back listeners.
