    # 24 Overtraining Syndrome: How to Recognize Signs of OTS and Prevent Athletes from Redlining. 🎧 Tune in now and learn how to train smarter, not harder! 💡 Get a free month of WHOOP with this link: https://join.whoop.com/us/en/19A088/ As a former college athlete, I learned the hard way how overtraining can derail not only your athletic performance but also your mental and physical health. This is ultimately why I wound up quitting after 2 years of this repeated cycle and it was sadly super preventable. In this episode, I share my personal experience with overtraining—the warning signs I missed, the toll it took on my body and mind, and the moment I realized what was happening. More importantly, I break down what you can do to prevent overtraining, from smarter training principles to recovery strategies and how tools like WHOOP can help you stay on top of your performance. If you’re an athlete pushing yourself to the limit, this is a must-listen. Overtraining Syndrome (OTS) is a condition that occurs when an athlete experiences prolonged physical and mental fatigue due to excessive training without adequate recovery. It is characterized by a decline in performance, persistent exhaustion, increased risk of injury and illness, disrupted sleep, hormonal imbalances, and negative psychological effects such as anxiety, depression, and loss of motivation. Unlike normal training fatigue, OTS is not resolved with short-term rest and can take weeks or even months to recover from.
