This podcast will take a deep dive on small towns, ghost towns, historic trails, and tales of interesting historical figures! I'll also explore the origins of some of the most successful small towns that are now big cities, and tell you all about the history embedded in them. So much of this history is locked up in written form and within museums that people don't really attend, I want to bring some of these stories out into the light of day and help get people into these lovingly curated museums. We can't forget where we came from!

    Ghost Town: Piedmont, WY

    A shorty but a goody! Just a story about a town where Union Pacific railroad workers nearly rioted and delayed the Golden Spike ceremony at Promontory Point by 3 days to make sure they were paid for their work.     Halloween Minisode: the Sweetwater County Library!

    Happy Halloween! In this episode, I'm going to tell you all about the haunted Sweetwater County Library. Why is it haunted? Well, it's literally built on the old Green River cemetery, and not all the folks interred there were moved to the new cemetery... and some of the permanent residents are said to still make an appearance. This IS still a history podcast, but for Halloween I'm going to tell you all about this haunted location in a focused snapshot of the city of Green River, Wyoming.     Announcement

    Announcement: I'm getting the podcast exported to more listening platforms! Apple music and Amazon music coming soon. I recorded this announcement with my new microphone! The first time with the echo on; the second time I sounded like I was speaking through a tunnel... and now, sitting in my closet, speaking uncomfortably close to the microphone, my sound quality is so much better! I also want to tell you something I learned about literally today while finishing one of the episodes I'll bring to you soon: there is an event each year at Fort Washakie called the Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Powwow, this year it will be held June 27-29th! I wanted to get this information out there, I'm not super plugged in so I didn't know about it until now. This is the largest powwow in Wyoming, I've read, and one of the longest running!     If you are interested in the old west and the civil war, this is the episode for you! Black Bart was a "gentleman bandit" stagecoach robber that made a bad interaction with Wells Fargo Stagecoach Co his literal villain origin story. I explore Black Bart's early life, his time serving for the Union Army in the United States Civil War, his gold prospecting efforts, his stagecoach robberies, and finally his disappearance-slash-death. This podcast is written, recorded, and edited by me while my kid naps and yes, at some point I will find the microphone I bought specifically to record this podcast.
