Talking to people about the history of their favorite foods is a great way to trick them into telling stories they haven’t told before. Host Katherine Spiers brings the history, the guests bring the anecdotes - like Gail Simmons discovering American Thanksgiving, Jenny Yang’s childhood love of salad bars, and Scott Conant and Lorena Garcia’s fundamental disagreement about dumplings.

Good for foodies!

I like this podcast. Sometimes there’s a bit too much chit chat before they get to the subject at hand. I enjoy the guests but I never know who they are ( probably because of my age... I knew Jacque Pepin). Keep up the good work!

Informative and fun

Smart Mouth is a wonderful podcast for anyone intereted in the beauty behind seemingly mundane foods, and for anyone eager to drill down into the food media scene at large. Highly recommend.

The best

High brow, low brow, all the best and later for the rest. Katherine jas that great combo of excitement for the good stuff and healthy disrespect for the bad. My kind of podcast!
