    The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, Episode 1 Mashup Podcast

    Negan and Maggie start the new season on a bit of a lighter note Pete and Mike discuss the third season premiere of The Walking Dead: Dead City. What did you think of the premiere? At the start of the episode, Maggie is burying someone; as it turns out, it is Ginny who Negan was attempting to protect. Negan comes up to Maggie and is pissed off that she is burying her, because he wanted to be the one to bury her. They talk for a few moments, and the conversation turns into a bit of a sibling rivalry at one point because Maggie offers her back for Negan to stab her as payback for her stabbing him. During Negan’s monologue, he says the word shit about a couple of dozen times. Maggie and Negan are interrupted by two people who tell them to drop their weapons. Negan and Maggie comply with their demands, and the two people tie Negan and Maggie’s hands behind their backs. They know Negan is Croat’s number 2 and are going to trade for a chance to save an unborn child. As with most plans in The Walking Dead, the plan goes sideways, and they figure out the best way to get what they need is for them all to work together. After helping each other, Renata offers Maggie to stay in New York to join forces, so to speak. Aimee Garcia as Renata, Raul Castillo as Luis – The Walking Dead: Dead City _ Season 3, Episode 1 – Photo Credit: Robert Clark/AMC A good start to the season: Pete and Mike discuss how this season premiere started in a good way, and what this season will bring will be seen shortly enough. Of course, the viewers said goodbye to one Dead City character, as The Croat ends his reign, bringing hope to a young family. However, the Dama is still around and recruiting more followers. Maggie and Negan had a heart-to-heart conversation at the end of this episode, and it seems like Maggie is finally letting go of the pain and anger she holds for Negan.     The Westies: Season 1, Episode 4 Mashup Podcast

    The initial season of The Westies has already set a high bar halfway through. Pete and Mike discuss the recent episode of The Westies. So many storylines are taking shape, and there is hope for many more seasons to come. With all the characters that have been introduced in this initial season, the question is how far each character can take a series like this. In my opinion, it could make a good run of 4-6 seasons at least. The latest episode is titled Favors and Funerals, and it starts with a funeral. Sarah Bolger as Bridget Walsh, Tom Brittney as Jimmy Roarke, Hilary McCormack as Erin Malone Funeral for Pat Murphy: The episode starts with Pat Murphy’s funeral and a get-together at the bar afterward. Sweeney makes a toast to their fallen soldier, but it does not help that one of their crewmates has been killed. When asked what Sweeney is hearing about who killed Pat, it is said that it appears to have been a drug deal gone wrong. Patrick Garrow as Dukey, Vincent Walsh as Eddie Breen, J.K. Simmons as Eamon Sweeney, Michael Cram as Father Michael, Tadhg McMahon as Cliffie As for the favors: This one takes a bit, as there seemed to have been favors being asked for or asked for again. Jimmy approaches Sweeney to see if he would allow them to sell the drugs he was able to take out of The Starship in the last episode. Sweeney stands by his guns, but afterward, has one of his guys call in another crew’s leader to sell the drugs to. As it turns out, the drugs are John Gotti’s, and he either wants them back or to find out if any of it touches the streets. Sweeney sells the drugs to a man named Leon, but one of Leon’s crew members rats out to Gotti that the drugs were sold to Leon by Sweeney. This confirms to Gotti that the Westies had a hand in taking out the Colombians for Paul Castellano. Gotti is furious and sets up Sweeney to be killed by a couple of guys out of Philadelphia. But wait, there’s more: Sweeney tells Glenn Keenan that his son Danny is convinced that Keenan took out Pat, and it needs to be dealt with. Keenan shows up at his sister-in-law’s house to talk with Danny, and it seems to work. However, later on, Keenan sees his kid talking with Sweeney, and when he asks what’s going on, Sweeney tells him that Danny is trying to blackmail him into staying on the crew. That does not sit right with Sweeney, and he tells Keenan that if Danny ever shows up in Hell’s Kitchen, Sweeney would have to silence him. Titus Welliver as Officer Glenn Keenan, J.K. Simmons as Eamon Sweeney Keenan has to act to keep his son safe, so he asks Polk if she can hide his kid in another state, and he will keep digging into the fire at The Starship to see if there is a connection to Castellano and Sweeney. Keenan then arrests his son to get him out of the city. He tells his sister-in-law that it is what is best for the kid, but she does not agree. A Dark Path: Jimmy and Mickey find out that Sweeney donated a bunch of money, and they put together that Sweeney sold the drugs. Jimmy plans to confront Sweeney at the dinner where Sweeney is set to be given an award. Nice timing that Jimmy showed up just as Sweeney was being followed in the alley by the goons hired by Gotti to take him out. Allen Leech as Brendan Cahill, Sarah Bolger as Bridget Walsh As for Jimmy’s girlfriend Bridget: She met with Brendan Cahill and told him the weapon she was stashing for him had been found missing. Brendan is pissed off that the weapon is missing, not just because it was going to be used, but because it was meant for someone from Bridget’s past—the British operative who killed her parents. Bridget tells Jimmy that she is going to help out Brendan, and that she is doing it for herself. They disagree at the start of the conversation, but she tells Jimmy that with all the dangerous things he does, she does not want to sit back and not help herself with this task with Brendan. Brendan brings her in to meet the rest of his crew, and Bridget takes the oath of loyalty to the Irish Republican Army. What will she be doing for Brendan’s crew?     Silo: Season 3, Episode 4 Mashup Podcast

    Pete and Mike break down the latest episode of Silo, available on AppleTV. This new season of Silo is really starting to hit its stride, especially with the way this latest episode ended. Pete mentions in the podcast that he wished this season had dropped the first 4 episodes at the start; that way, it would really bring the fans in with this episode’s ending. Or, if anything, drop 2 episodes each of the first two weeks. Alexandria Riley and Common in “Silo,” now streaming on Apple TV. Robert and Camille’s Plan: During the episode, Shirley overhears Camille’s plan laid out by the Entity she has been talking to. However, I think Robert has his own plan, or if anything, is working in secret with Camille to keep Juliette safe. After all, why kill off yet another Mayor? It could spark more people lining up with the Outsiders to rise against the top brass. Knox distracts the Raiders: After Shirley looks as though she’s going to lash out at a Raider, Knox tells her it will not help her cause. Instead, he approaches the main Raider and asks if Shirley can go into the medical center to check on her friend. The Raider makes a rude comment, and Knox responds in a way that would distract all the Raiders so Shirley can sneak in. While inside, she hears Robert and Camille discussing Juliette, and comes up with a plan to follow Robert instead. She checks on Knox after getting out of the medical center and tells him what is going on. Shane McRae and Remmie Milner in “Silo,” now streaming on Apple TV. Daniel and Helen: This storyline keeps drawing me in. Daniel and Helen get approached by the man who has been following them. The man tells them that anyone they have talked to has been moved up in the world, not eliminated. He even offers Helen a job at the New York Times, even with her history. For Daniel, it is not mentioned on camera, but it seems like the care for Charlotte, his sister, is threatened to be reduced. Before they are approached, Daniel and Helen meet up with an old friend of Daniel who works in the Pentagon. Daniel’s friend tells him that he cannot help because he enjoys having a family and a good government job. Ashley Zukerman and Jessica Henwick in “Silo,” now streaming on Apple TV However, a week later, Daniel’s friend reaches out on a burner phone offering to help. What will they uncover? Billings’ investigation into Orla: Billings interviewed a few people who knew Orla, but the main thing uncovered was that Orla was not killed in the mines. Her lungs contained no particles of poison or mine dust, which means she was killed elsewhere and placed in the mines. In fact, she was killed with a piece of rebar or something similar. Who killed her? Was it the older man from the mines who wanted his daughter to be the supply shadow? Was it the boyfriend? What are your thoughts? Let us know. The episode ends with Juliette coming across someone familiar hiding out. Who is helping him hide out?     The Odyssey: Movie Review Mashup Podcast

    Pete and Mike discuss the instant Epic directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey: Yes, the new Christopher Nolan film hit theaters last week, and SMS Mashups reviews it here. Incredible Cast: In any movie, the cast is what can make or break the story, and The Odyssey has some amazing actors and actresses involved. Matt Damon leads the film, but that should not diminish the contributions of everyone else. The cast includes Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Elliott Page. Credit: Universal Pictures A strong start at the box office: During its opening weekend, The Odyssey brought in 264.1 Million Dollars globally, and those numbers are going to grow in the coming weeks. In fact, some theaters are sold out for the foreseeable future, especially IMAX theaters. I can see The Odyssey dominating the box office until Spider-Man Brand New Day premieres next weekend. Then it will be a showdown of which movie will be the biggest of the Summer. What did you think? If you have seen the movie, what are your thoughts on it?     The Hawk: Mashup Podcast

    Pete and Mike from So Many Shows discuss the new Netflix show The Hawk. Pete and Mike had different takes on the new Netflix show, The Hawk, which stars Will Ferrell, Jimmy Tatro, Molly Shannon, Fortune Feimster, and Luke Wilson. The show is not great; let me start by saying that, but Pete thinks it is okay. I had some feelings about the show, and both Pete and I discuss them on this Mashup Podcast. In my opinion, this could have been a movie; there were so many sections of the show that, if they had trimmed out the scenes that went nowhere, they could have taken the best stuff and filled an hour-and-a-half to two-hour-long movie, or even possibly a mini-series of 4-6 episodes. PHOTOGRAPHY BY COLLEEN E HAYES/NETFLIX The Hawk: The premise of the show had some potential, even though it was similar to Happy Gilmore or Happy Gilmore 2. The Hawk follows Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a former number 1 golfer, as he attempts to recapture his glory days and win the U.S. Open to complete the Career Grand Slam of golf. The only things standing in his way, besides himself, are his son, Lance (Jimmy Tatro), and the man he lost to many years prior, Golden Fisk (Luke Wilson).     The Westies: Season 1, Episode 3 Mashup Podcast

    SMS Mashups discuss the events from the recent episode of The Westies. What an episode, with all these characters having a big role right from the jump of this series, it is fascinating to see all these storylines playing out. Pete and Mike talk about the episode and what the future episodes could bring. The New Plan: Jimmy had a terrible plan that did not fake out John Gotti one bit in the previous episode. However, he has a good idea in this episode. Have Eamon Sweeney meet with Paul Castellano and ask him to have Gotti back down and return Mickey for the good of the Javits Center project. After all, there is a lot of money on the line for both groups. Eamon meets with Paul, and Paul requests that, to get Mickey back, all they have to do is take out some Colombians dealing cocaine out of the basement of a dance club. Castellano does not like his men dealing in drugs. Tom Brittney as Jimmy Roarke, Sarah Bolger as Bridget Walsh So, Jimmy has his girlfriend, Bridget, as well as Jimmy’s crew and all of their gals, get all dolled up for a night of dancing at The Starship, the name of the club where Jimmy and his crew will scope out the place. The plan starts decently, and Jimmy is introduced to one of the men who can take him to meet the boss. The boss, however, does not know Jimmy and tries to call Zacarro to no avail. Jimmy gets an inside look at the operation in the process, so not everything is a bust. However, one of Jimmy’s crew, Pat, decides to get into a fight with another club patron. The crew fights a few others and then flees to the exit. Jimmy and his crew hit The Starship the next day, and with the help of some firepower from Bridget, carry out the plan to help get Mickey back. Mickey takes Gotti’s best: John Gotti and his crew inflict massive beatings on Mickey, but Mickey is one tough character. Gotti did not like hearing that Castellano wanted him to return Mickey to keep the peace; Gotti wanted answers about what happened with Zacarro. However, Gotti listens to his boss, and because The Westies assisted with the Colombians, he returns Mickey. Hamish Allan-Headley as John Gotti Glenn Keenan and Eamon Sweeney: J.K. Simmons as Eamon Sweeney, Titus Welliver as Officer Glenn Keenan In the podcast, Pete has a theory that these two characters are either related or served together in Vietnam. What do you think? Keenan gets his marching orders from Birdie Polk to find out what happened with Zacarro. Glenn meets with Sweeney to find out what is going on, but Sweeney plays dumb. However, Glenn goes to his son, Danny, to find out information, and in the process, has to smack his kid because of Danny’s smart mouth. Keenan gets the information and meets again with Sweeney to let him know he will take care of the situation. A few of us at SMS Mashups thought Glenn Keenan would start to have a redemption arc soon, but that will have to wait at least another episode. Because at the end of this episode, Keenan handles the problem in a manner unbecoming of a police officer. Will this come back on Keenan? Will the feds find out? Only time can tell. We thought there was a slight chance it would happen this episode, as Glenn confesses his sins in a church confessional. Michael Cram as Father Michael, Sarah Bolger as Bridget Walsh Brendan meets with Bridget: Towards the end of the episode, Brendan Cahill pays a visit to Bridget to let her know that the item she has been holding onto will soon be picked up. However, she let Jimmy and his crew use said item. How do you think Brendan will react? Will Bridget somehow make it right? And if so, how? Will she have to offer he services to Brendan’s freedom group? The Westies is really hitting a stride in just this third episode. There are so many characters and storylines to keep track of, and we at SMS Mashups are loving it. What would you rate the show as of right now?     Silo: S3Ep3 Mashup Podcast

    Juliette walks the silo: In the Silo, Juliette asks her personal security guard for a day to walk the silo by herself. With some freedom from prying eyes, or so she thinks, she meets up with Kathleen Billings, the Sheriff’s wife, to find out any information about Lukas Kyle. Kathleen deflects the questions, and Juliette is smarter than she is given credit for, as she notices Kathleen’s arm is injured. Juliette continues her pursuit of Lukas by going farther down the silo, even though she is told it is dangerous at the time. She has a brief conversation with Shirley about why she did not meet with her. I get why Shirley is upset, but she needs to put her feelings aside to help her friend. Further down into the silo, Juliette gets help from Knox. Shane McRae and Rebecca Ferguson in “Silo,” now streaming on Apple TV. They talk with a few people around the mines of the silo to see if they can garner any information. At one point, they find out that Juliette has eyes on her, and they lose the tail. Camille’s talks with the entity: Camille Sims discusses plans with the entity in the server room. The only reason the entity selected her was her ability to be a pathological liar. The entity wants Camille to implement a plan to add vitamin D+ to the drinking water supply. If that plan is carried out, Robert says that the water would start making people forget things. Is this the best plan the entity can propose? Alexandria Riley in “Silo,” now streaming on Apple TV. Daniel and Helen: In the past, Daniel and Helen contacted someone on the dark web about a recording of Charlotte’s flight. What they hear was troubling, but as viewers, we do not know what is on the recording. Daniel had to allow Steve to make a copy of his congressional badge to gain access to what Steve knows. After Helen and Daniel hear the recording, they leave, but turn around to let them take the audio so Daniel can pass it up the chain to get some justice for his sister. When they return to Steve’s place, they find it trashed and Steve missing. Is this the old guy whom we have seen throughout the season? Is he some government fixer? Hopefully, we get some answers as to who he is in the next episode or two. Jessica Henwick and Ashley Zukerman in “Silo,” now streaming on Apple TV. A Dark Ending: In the last bit of this episode, we see Camille have exterminators enter the mines to spray poison in the tunnels to flush out Lukas Kyle, because she thinks he might be digging his way to another silo. An evil plan, in my opinion, because she did not give any warning to the miners working in the tunnels. Juliette comes across the scene and makes her way into the tunnels to help the miners stuck inside. While inside the tunnels attempting to help someone, her mask is taken away, and she eventually falls to the floor because of all the poison around. We think she is a goner, but Lukas Kyle appears and takes her out of the tunnel to safety. However, he gets spotted by raiders and makes a run for it. He hides out in a room, where a couple of the Outsiders Group find him instead. Will Lukas let them know what is going on? Juliette is back in the hospital because of the poison inhalation. The entity tells Camille this could work in the silo’s favor if the mayor is to have died a hero, and Camille says she will take care of the situation. Will Camille take out Juliette? I have a feeling that could backfire on her and the entity. What are your thoughts about the episode or the season?     Pete, Jay, and Mike discuss the recent sports news from the World Cup, MMA, and the NFL. World Cup Update: The World Cup final match is set. With Argentina’s win against England today, the final match this Sunday will be Spain vs Argentina. Pete and Jay both selected who they think will win it all. Check out what they had to say about it on the podcast. MMA Fight: This past weekend’s MMA fight between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway took place on Saturday night, and the fight was over pretty much right after it started. McGregor attempted to kick Holloway but did not land correctly and injured his knee. Pete discusses what he has seen about the aftermath of the fight. NFL News: The end of the NFL offseason is just around the corner, as teams will be reporting to training camp within the next two weeks. The NFL Hall of Fame Game is only three weeks away on Thursday, August 6th, as the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals will face each other. The 2026 Enshrinement will take place on August 8th, and the players being inducted include Drew Brees, Roger Craig, Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Kuechly, and Adam Vinatieri.
