  1. The Wizard of AI

    The Wizard of AI

We are currently standing in the Emerald City, trembling before the green projection of Artificial Intelligence. We treat these models like the Great Oz. We approach them feeling small and broken, asking them to grant us the things we think we lack: 🧠 The Scarecrow: We ask AI to think for us, confusing information processing with wisdom. 🫀 The Tin Man: We ask AI to simulate empathy to cure our loneliness, settling for a ticking clock instead of a beating heart. 🦁 The Lion: We use AI to bypass the risk of creativity, trading the courage of our convictions for a safe, generated output. But we are forgetting the most important lesson of the story. When Toto pulls back the curtain, the Wizard is revealed to be a “humbug.” He isn’t a god; he is a projectionist using levers and smoke. AI is no different. Behind the interface, there is no consciousness. There is only math, probability distributions, and a vast remix of human data. In my latest episode on SoBlest, I explore why we are so eager to outsource our spirits to an algorithm, and I offer a daily practice—modeled on A Course in Miracles—to help you pull back the curtain, ignore the smoke, and realize that you already possess everything you are asking the machine to give you. The balloon isn’t coming to save us. But the good news is: we never needed it. We are already Home. #ArtificialIntelligence #WizardOfOz #Spirituality #Mindfulness #TechEthics #ACIM Get full access to SoBlest at soblest.substack.com/subscribe

UFOs, “Non-Human Intelligence,” and the Missing Entity Type No One Is Talking About

What if the biggest mistake in the UFO / UAP debate is assuming intelligence must be alive? For decades, “non-human intelligence” has been treated as synonymous with sentient beings. Pilots. Lifeforms. Someone in the craft. But modern UAP evidence increasingly points elsewhere: autonomous, non-sentient, goal-directed intelligence. In my latest Substack essay, I apply a legal concept I originally developed for AI governance—Synthience—to the UAP discussion. Synthience describes systems that act intelligently without requiring consciousness, biology, or lifeform status. That single reframing explains a lot: • Why many reported “entities” behave like operators or tools • Why modern UAPs appear uncrewed and physics-defying • Why disclosure language around “non-human intelligence” remains evasive • And why existing law quietly breaks the moment intelligence isn’t sentient As Geoffrey Hinton has warned in the AI context, we are confronting powerful intelligences without adequate frameworks to understand or govern them. The same gap may now exist in how governments—and the public—approach UAPs. This essay isn’t about proving what UAPs are. It’s about clarifying what they don’t have to be. If intelligence no longer requires biology, disclosure, risk assessment, ethics, and governance all change—dramatically. 👉 UFOs, “Non-Human Intelligence,” and the Missing Entity Type No One Is Talking About How Synthience Changes the UAP Discussion #UAP #NonHumanIntelligence #AI #Synthience #Disclosure #AIGovernance #EmergingRisk #LawAndTechnology Get full access to SoBlest at soblest.substack.com/subscribe
