Back in the familiar streets of Cog Spring, the companions trade blades for errands and battle plans for shopping lists. Reunions bring warmth, laughter, and no shortage of teasing, but not every face in town feels quite right, and even the quietest afternoon can carry a strange undercurrent. Old friends welcome the party back with open arms, and familiar shops offer a taste of normalcy after everything they've endured on the road. But even in the calm of home, small moments carry unexpected weight - an apology wrapped in a bottle of lotion, a joke that lands a little too close, and a bond quietly tested, teased, and ultimately mended in the most roundabout way possible. Names are mixed up, feelings are bruised, and forgiveness comes in the strangest of packaging. A new face behind the grocer's counter draws more attention than she'd like. Something about her feels off, though no one can quite say why, and polite conversation only deepens the mystery rather than resolving it. Questions are asked, answers come back careful and guarded, and a strange, lingering unease follows the party back out onto the street - not once, but twice, in ways none of them expected. Whatever it is, it isn't going to be easy to shake. At the bookstore, old friendships are rekindled and old habits resurface, with warm welcomes, familiar banter, and at least one member of the party wandering into sections better left undiscussed. A search for a history of the wider world turns up something far older and stranger than expected, tucked away on a forgotten shelf and waiting to be carried home under careful hands. Not everything on that shelf makes sense, even to the shopkeeper who knows the store best. The blacksmith's forge brings its own reunion, full of gruff affection and offers of honest work, along with rumors drifting in from beyond Cog Spring's walls - word of a dragon's attack on a distant town, and whispers that all is not well within a prince's household. Small talk rarely stays small for long in this world, and even a hammer and anvil can't quite drown out the sense that something is shifting beyond the horizon. There may even be a proposition or two waiting for the right member of the party. As evening approaches, the party learns that dinner with family means more than just showing up hungry. Proper attire is non-negotiable, appearances matter more than anyone expected, and for at least one member of the group, getting dressed for the occasion might prove to be the most daunting challenge of the entire day. Cog Spring, it turns out, has its own rules, and not everyone is ready to follow them.
