A Toast to Allyship: Finding Community with Bourbon
Content Warning: This episode features controversial language from an individual who is still growing in their LGBTQ allyship journey. We are choosing not to alter his words. Part of what we do on SQ is have hard, honest conversations and that means not policing guests’ language if they are sincerely trying to be supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.
Y’all we move beyond our queer echo chamber and talk to an actual straight, white, male. Randy Sullivan of Bourbon Real Talk chats with India about growing beyond ingrained homophobia, becoming an ally, and using bourbon as a common ground to build diverse communities.
Honestly, Aubree knows nothing about bourbon, so after listening to this she did what she always does, and found a book on the subject. We recommend: The Bourbon Bible, and it is entirely possible that Alyson is getting this queer bourbon shirt for her birthday.*

Whiskey in a Rainbow Tea Cup…
The first episode I listened to(episode 41) hit so close to my heart. I was hooked! As I binged every episode I could after that, I felt refreshed! This podcast and its hosts bring such unique and beautiful, and contrasting and true perspectives. Being queer in the south I’ve often felt isolated or like I only hear one side of the narrative. With Southern Queeries I feel like I get to hear so many truths and can just sit at the table and learn and be challenged to keep growing as a human…it’s like sipping on the smoothest whiskey from a tea cup around a table with dear friends…it’s beautiful, brings a smile to your face, and cuts straight to it.

India this is so cool! I’m enjoying the discussion so much!
Best Queer Podcast
India and Aubree are creating such a unique space in queer dialogue- one that is desperately needed. Queer folx in the south have to stick together and that’s exactly what they’re doing with Southern Queeries. Building community is the best way to protect each other. I’m so proud to have been a guest on this podcast!
