The Podcast is fine, but maybe has run its course. The bigger problem, though, is that Caitie seems to have shifted quite a bit as it has progressed. The Podcast, in its first several years, largely avoided political topics, and even when it addressed them, did a good job of being relatively thorough and even-handed. Now, Caitie, in particular, has moved significantly further to the left, to the point that you cannot ignore it while listening. Possibly because Veilguard got a negative response, and, in my view, that was rightfully so in many cases, Caitie now commonly lashes out, blaming “the conservatives” for seemingly any critical word about the game, as though they were the only ones who didn’t like Veilguard, or there’s no other reason you could be disappointed by it, never mind complaints from “the conservatives” that may have validity. She also says Twitter is totally toxic and now spends all her time on Bluesky, which again, speaks to a very clear lean. My guess is, because she played a role in the creation of the game, she takes all this personally, and wants to get even with the people she perceives as having put the game down, so she is therefore adopting the view of a lot of these studios that they should just blame the audience if they aren’t thrilled with something.
It’s disappointing, but this show had a good run, and maybe it’s time to just leave it in the past.
