Taco Bell
Dan and Andy are back recording remotely from their homes on opposite sides of the globe for their first episode in a while. It’s Taco Bell day. Dan had the Bell down the road from his house in Springfield, while Andy took a long trip to a Taco Bell in Guangzhou. They explore the history of Taco Bell in China, discussing the reasons why the restaurant’s first attempt to expand into the country failed miserably, and then examine how Taco Bell radically changed its approach before beginning a second push into the PRC last year. And, of course, they discuss and compare the TB meals they both had this week. There’s a fun musical game at the end, which is apparently this show’s deal now.

Great Casual Podcast about Springfield Restaurants
This podcast is a a great resource for local Springfieldians looking for a bite to eat. The hosts do a great job at thoroughly evaluating the food and sprinkling in humor to keep things light and fun. My husband and I often go to the restaurants that are reviewed, and I imagine other listeners do the same, which is great for our local businesses.
I do have some reservations that prevent me from giving the podcast a full 5 stars, and it is purely my personal preference. When the podcast first started, the episodes were about 40 minutes long, and a perfect length for my work commute. They were more to-the-point. Nowadays, often the episodes approach 90 minutes! That takes up about 2 days of commuting for me, and for most people with a shorter commute, they’d have to devote a big chunk of time to listen to the whole episode. This would be fine if it was more thorough restaurant content, or more involved guest content, etc. Instead, there’s about 5 minutes of sponsorship at the beginning, the 10 minutes of them talking about their weeks, then 10 minutes of laughing with the guests, then finally the restaurant review, then finishing with their usual silly skit. I find myself skipping a lot of the podcast these days. Once again, this is a reflection of my preference. I’m here to listen to the restaurant review, not to hear them joke around for half the episode.
I love the podcast, and I am so happy these guys get so much joy out of doing it. I won’t stop listening to their great reviews and music drops, but I would love it to be more succinct.
Great local foodie podcast!
Fantastic chemistry and banter between longtime friends. Additionally they really dive into the strengths that a restaurant can bring to the table! Keep it up Springfoodpod!
Great podcast!
This is so fun to listen to! I enjoy learning about locally owned restaurants and the pre-review chatting/banter is great.
