A LOT OF BS IN LA! Plus Utah Baseball, Nets & Anaheim Angels News

This is a solo Stadium BS rant — and I'm pissed. First up: Dodgers owner Mark Walter. Walter's financial empire has reportedly come under scrutiny from federal prosecutors and securities regulators over billions of dollars in undisclosed loans involving his companies. So what exactly is going on? Then we head across Los Angeles to the Clippers. For months, the questions surrounding Steve Ballmer, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers' salary-cap situation continued to grow. Now we have an answer. The NBA ruled that the Clippers violated salary-cap circumvention rules involving off-court income opportunities connected to Kawhi Leonard. The punishment was massive: • Steve Ballmer suspended from NBA and team activities for one year • Clippers fined $30 million • Five future first-round draft picks forfeited • Clippers executives suspended • Kawhi Leonard fined $700,000 The NBA's investigation found that the Clippers helped facilitate endorsement opportunities involving companies doing business with the team. So was this simply an aggressive owner trying to keep his superstar and uncle happy? Then we're getting out of Los Angeles and talking baseball in Utah. Salt Lake City and Big League Utah continue to position themselves as one of the strongest candidates for MLB expansion. The proposed Power District ballpark is taking shape, the Miller organization continues preparing for a potential MLB team, and the vision is much bigger than simply building a baseball stadium. The goal remains to be ready for Major League Baseball by 2030. But there's a major obstacle: MLB's collective bargaining situation has to be resolved before expansion can really move forward. Could Utah finally become an MLB city? And what would an MLB stadium and surrounding development actually mean for Salt Lake City? Then we're talking Brooklyn Nets. The Nets are entering their 60th season, and they are paying homage to a rebranding that never happened? And finally… THE ANAHEIM ANGELS. This story just got VERY interesting. Arte Moreno's 23-year run as Angels owner is coming to an end after Stan Kroenke reached an agreement to purchase the team. Yes — THAT Stan Kroenke. The owner of the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids and Arsenal. The reported $4 billion purchase would give Kroenke another major professional sports franchise and could completely change the future of the Angels. Has the Stadium BS Ended for the Rays? Plus Athletics & NHL Atlanta News

Has Stadium BS finally reached the end of the road when it comes to the Tampa Bay Rays stadium saga? I’ll be honest with you—if anything involving the Rays stadium situation hits the fan again, I’m not sure how much more I’ll have to say about it. But if the Rays make a serious push toward the World Series, you can bet I’ll be talking about that! Last week, the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County voted and approved their portions of the funding for the new Rays stadium. I have plenty to say about what that means, what happens next, and whether this truly puts an end to the stadium saga. Plus, we have new developments involving the Athletics and Bally’s in Las Vegas, and I’ll give you an update on not one, but TWO arena developments that have received approval to lure an NHL expansion franchise in the Metro Atlanta area. Why Did I Start Stadium BS?

Why Did I Start Stadium BS? I started Stadium BS because I wanted to have the conversations that sports fans are already having but don't always get the opportunity to hear. Sports are about much more than what happens on the field. Behind every team, stadium, league, expansion effort, ownership group, and fan experience are stories about business, money, politics, community, and the people working to make it all happen. I created Stadium BS to ask the questions fans are thinking about — Who really benefits from a new stadium? How do teams decide where to relocate or expand? What does it take to build a successful sports organization? How important are fans to the business? And what happens when the business side of sports conflicts with the passion that makes people love the game? My goal isn't to pretend I have all the answers. It's to start the conversation. Through interviews with team owners, league executives, journalists, athletes, entrepreneurs, stadium experts, and people working behind the scenes, Stadium BS gives guests a platform to share their experiences, explain their vision, and tell the stories behind the headlines. At its heart, Stadium BS is about being curious, asking tough questions, and giving fans a different perspective on the sports they love. Because there is always more to the story than what we see on the field. That's Stadium BS. Would the New York Jets Leave New Jersey?

In this episode of Stadium BS, we explore the rumor and the idea of what a future home for the Jets could look like — including a potential move to Long Island. Joining me is Joseph Nabet, a passionate Jets fan who has developed a detailed proposal for bringing the Jets back to Long Island and giving the franchise its own home for the first time in team history. Joseph explains his “Say YES to the JETS!” proposal and why he believes Nassau County could be the right location for a new Jets stadium. Also the news: • Jacksonville Jaguars – A look at the ongoing renovation of EverBank Stadium and the changes fans are seeing before kickoff as the Jaguars continue work on their “Stadium of the Future.” • NHL Expansion – The NHL appears to be getting closer to expansion, with Houston and Austin competing to become the league’s potential 33rd franchise. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly has indicated that a decision could potentially come by the end of 2026, with the new team potentially beginning play during the 2029-30 season. • Atlanta NHL Expansion – Could Atlanta be next? With multiple groups working to bring the NHL back to the Atlanta area, Alpharetta has emerged as an important part of the conversation. The proposed redevelopment of North Point Mall includes plans for a new NHL-caliber arena and mixed-use entertainment district. Alpharetta City Council recently approved the redevelopment plan, although the project remains contingent on securing an NHL franchise. What do you think? Should the Jets have their own stadium in New York? Could Long Island realistically become the future home of the Jets? Should the NHL expand to Houston, Austin or Atlanta? And which city would be the best fit for the next NHL franchise? SAY YES TO THE JETS! Today marks the one-year anniversary of our very first show, and we’ve come a long way. What better way to celebrate than by kicking off Season 4 with a BANG! ⚾🇿🇦 In this special episode, Frankie Castellon sits down with Marc Moreau, Head of the South Africa Baseball Union, for an in-depth conversation about the history, challenges, and future of baseball in South Africa. Marc shares his incredible personal journey with baseball, from discovering the sport as a young refugee in South Africa in the 1960s to becoming one of the leaders helping guide South African baseball on the international stage. We discuss South Africa’s participation in the World Baseball Classic and the Olympics, the unique challenges facing baseball across Africa, and what it will take to build a stronger and more sustainable future for the sport. Marc also explains how South African players have developed an alternative style of baseball due to limited resources, inadequate facilities, financial challenges, and competition from more established sports such as rugby and cricket. ⚾ IN THIS EPISODE: ⚡ DEVELOPING YOUNG TALENT Why talented South African athletes are often recruited into rugby and cricket instead of baseball, and what baseball needs to do to attract and retain the next generation. 🌍 BASEBALL5 IN AFRICA How Baseball5 is providing an affordable and accessible way to introduce baseball to communities that may not have access to traditional baseball facilities and equipment. 👩‍🦱 WOMEN’S BASEBALL The growth of women’s baseball in South Africa and the potential for South African women to compete on the international stage. 🏟️ BUILDING BASEBALL FACILITIES Why baseball-specific facilities, floodlights, and smaller stadiums could play a major role in developing the sport and creating more opportunities for players. ⚾ THE PITCHING ACADEMY The vision for developing high-velocity pitchers in South Africa, including the potential for a partnership with the Dominican Republic. 🌎 THE FUTURE OF SOUTH AFRICAN BASEBALL Why Marc remains optimistic about the future of the sport and how players such as Dylan Unsworth and Taylor Scott can inspire the next generation of South African baseball players. This is a conversation about more than baseball. It’s about opportunity, development, infrastructure, international competition, and the future of a sport that continues to grow across South Africa and the African continent. MLB NC & the Rays? Tom Dundon Puts Portland on Blast! Plus a Revisit to Episode 1 with John Fisher

I break down recent comments from Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon regarding the financing challenges surrounding renovations to the Moda Center and why those remarks may offer another perspective on the growing debate over public funding for sports venues. I also discuss Major League Baseball's long-term interest in North Carolina and why, if the Tampa Bay Rays' stadium situation falls through after the August deadline, acquiring the Rays could become a more realistic path for Raleigh than waiting for a future expansion franchise—assuming the funding and political support are in place. This episode also revisits the very first episode of Stadium BS, where I originally asked a simple question: What would I ask Athletics owner John Fisher if I had the opportunity to interview him? It's been one year since construction began on June 23, 2025. Since then, the Athletics' move to Las Vegas has continued to reshape Major League Baseball while raising even more questions about stadium financing, public funding, ownership, and relocation. Whether you're interested in MLB expansion, stadium economics, franchise relocation, or the business behind professional sports, this episode explores how these stories may be more connected than they first appear. 🎙️ Subscribe for more episodes covering MLB, stadium financing, sports business, ownership, expansion, relocation, and the biggest stories shaping the future of baseball.
