Parenting young adults is a whole new ballgame, complete with its own set of challenges that nobody really talks about.

    74. Pride Month and the Two Great Commandments

    74. Pride Month and the Two Great Commandments

As we enter June - Pride Month, I have been reflecting on an experience I had last year at this time.

Last June, I felt caught in a social media war between love and law –charity and chastity – tolerance and orthodoxy. I saw an army of pointed fingers on both sides. Some called for more love, tolerance, and acceptance. Others, in affirming God's laws, relentlessly published anti-pride messages, and some even publicly denounced the decisions of specific individuals.

While wrestling with what, if anything, I should do or say, the Lord taught me an important lesson about the two great commandments that I will never forget. Listen in to hear all about it.

    73. What I Wish I Had Known Before Serving a Mission with Elise Sheppard

Preparing kids (or ourselves) to serve missions is no small task. To succeed, missionaries need a wide variety of practical and spiritual skills.

In this episode, Elise, who returned from her mission six months ago, talks about a few things she wishes she had known before boarding the plane to the MTC. Whether you are working to prepare yourself, your kids, or your grandkids to serve, her fresh-off-the-mission perspective will be invaluable.

    72. Will Personal Revelation Ever Contradict Prophetic Counsel?

    72. Will Personal Revelation Ever Contradict Prophetic Counsel?

The most recent controversy surrounding women and their role in the Church revolves around Sister Camille Johnson's BYU Women's Conference address. In it, she spoke of her inspired decision to be a full-time lawyer while raising her children.

Many social media commenters expressed concern that she did not follow the prophetic counsel to stay home with her children if at all possible.

The question at the root of this controversy is whether personal revelation will ever contradict prophetic counsel.

    Let's talk about it.

    71. Raising Resilient Kids

    71. Raising Resilient Kids

The lack of resilience in emerging adults is staggering. We see it in sports teams, colleges, the military, the mission field, and beyond.

Arming our kids with resilience is necessary for their success in all areas of life. But how can we do it?

Listen in to gain perspective from professionals, including high-level coaches, college deans, and mental health counselors at the MTC.

Armed with perspective, we will then talk about practical parenting tools and strategies that we can implement today to build resilience in our kids.

    70. What Can We Appropriately Say About the Temple?

    70. What Can We Appropriately Say About the Temple?

Whether we are talking about preparing our kids or others to enter the temple or trying to learn as much as we can about the temple so we can better access its power in our lives, what exactly can we talk about while preserving the sacred nature of God’s holy house?

Listen in for what I have learned from prophets, apostles, and other official Church resources about this topic.

(Hint...the list of things we cannot say is small...)

I will follow the guidelines I teach in this episode as I discuss the temple in the future.
