    “The Great Debaters”

    My Introduction to the Nation of Islam was via a recording of a debate. Before that moment in time I had not given the discipline much thought. I attended a very well funded highschool on Long Island in Northport NY, Im certain they must have had classes that we meant to lay the foundation for a such academic skill set but due to the complete lack of true, transformative mental health care for teens in America, I did not tap into the depth of my school had to offer. I scratched the surface though, I did take the classes on childcare, auto mechanics and cooking. They were the highlight of my highschool experience. There was an actual nursery school program in the childcare classroom and our teacher was their main teacher too and we’d cycle through as her helpers each period. I learned how to change oil and sparkplugs. My father was a old car guy. I grew up with a 59 corvet in our basement garage that he had restored to mint condition himself. We went to lots of old car shows in my youth and that class did help me greatly in my days of traveling cross country in old vans. But I felt the opportunity to cook as the most valuable. And as fun as cooking was for me in my own life, I had issues in that class because the teacher required you to eat the food you cooked for a passing grade. She watched us like a hawk and it quickly became an issue that I was a vegetarian and striving to be vegan in 1992. It came to a head one day when we made Toad in a Hole which was sausage cooked with a biscuit crust. I had skills in the kitchen so my more compliant friends were hatching a plan for me to just scrape the bit of biscuits off the top of the dish and be seen eating and not fail the unit. They just wanted us to get through the dish and move on. They covered for me and offered to cook the sausage, I’d make the batter. Deal. But all hell broke loose when she gave out the recipe and instructions.

    The Clan of the Cave Bear

    White peoples did come out of the caves and hillsides of Europe before they went on to dominate the world for a time. These are facts, he wasn’t just riffing to insult white people. Right before I began to actually read the books of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, my last read was Clan of The Cave Bear and the series of books that came after it within the Earths Children series by Jean Aule. Clan of the Cave Bear is the first in the series. The books are highly detailed historical fiction books that tell a narrative about the early peoples of Europe, who lived in caves… obviously from the title and and later on highlight tribes who had a variety of other dwellings as well. Due to the popularity of the books, they made the first one into a movie.

    To Sir With Love

    Kicking off the this podcast project with well known film that has a direct symbolic connection to my experience of being civilized by a wise and loving black man, a most excellent teacher. One who is dedicated to the betterment and upliftment of all of humanity. I am speaking of none other than the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. In this episode we discuss the origins of show, the layout of each episode, and the title To Sir, With Love. This well known film has a direct symbolic connection to my experience of being civilized by a wise and loving black man, a most excellent teacher

    Dead Poets Society

    When the digital gate keepers of Facebook & IG sat around and decided that the Honorable Minister Louis Farakhan’s accounts needed to be removed, I remembered this movie. I tapped into what my teacher The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s love for all of humanity had put on my heart about his mission and I stood for him. His removal was unjust!! The audacity of these people!!! I didn’t care if they removed my accounts. If I got “expelled” for standing for the Honorable Minister Louis Farakhan then that would be an honor I could live with. I didn’t care about the comments that might roll in about me being a devil, and how you can never reform the Caucasian. You will not find me anywhere arguing with those commenters. I live my life as a Caucasian with Caucasians. I do understand the concerns, they are absolutely valid, and volumes of history bear witness to that truth. But I’d read the books of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, he said there would be some us who bear witness, and I knew had to speak!! In fact I was sure if I didn’t open my mouth that my life on some level would end. How could I not stand for a man who’s given his life for all of us?! How could I not stand for a man who saved me from the hell I was dealing with? Were it not for the messages of guidance coming to all of humanity out of the Nation of Islam my life wouldn’t be what it was, is and is becoming.
