94. Blanco Brown (Recording Artist)
Blanco Brown’s viral hit “The Git Up” (certified 11x PLATINUM across three countries) took the world by storm, claiming the top spot in charts across the globe and spawning nearly 4 billion views across social platforms. It claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 12 weeks and was the top-selling digital Country song in the US for 13 weeks, resulting in Billboard naming him as their Top New Country Artist for 2019. His multi-national Platinum-certified collaboration “Just the Way” with Parmalee has garnered more than 300 million on-demand streams, earning him his first No. 1 hit on Country radio (in the US and Canada). No stranger to collaborations, Blanco has worked alongside artists like Fergie, Childish Gambino, Kane Brown and Chris Brown – and he recently collaborated with Nelly and BRELAND for their funky fun “High Horse,” and “Never Gonna Tame You (Original Song from The Mustangs: America’s Wild Horses),” written by Diane Warren. In September 2020, Brown was in a life-threatening accident and has been recovering, leaning on creating music to heal — the first taste of that is “Nobody’s More Country,” available now.

93. Ashley Ray (Recording Artist)
Raised on a farm in Lawrence, Kansas, Ashley Ray has established herself as one of Nashville's most nuanced voices, chasing down critical acclaim not only as a solo artist, but also as an in-demand songwriter for Little Big Town, Lori McKenna, Lady A's Charles Kelley, and others. Her unique approach to melody and storytelling has resulted in partnerships with publishing companies like SonyATV Tree and BMG Nashville. Meanwhile, her albums have earned her shows with Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and other country trailblazers who, like Ashley, create a modern sound without chasing after modern trends.
Ashley Ray shines a light on her midwestern roots with her third album Pauline, whose autobiographical songs tell true stories of love, loss, and life in Middle America. The album finds her teaming up once again with songwriter/producer Sean McConnell, with whom she co-wrote Little Big Town's GRAMMY-nominated Top 40 hit, "The Daughters."

Customer Reviews
such a great pod!
so much wisdom on music, wellness, really everything! thanks, michael :)
I’m So Glad I Found This Podcast
I found Michael Franti through a review of someone writing about my music and comparing my message to his. Unfortunately, my music knowledge was not deep enough for me to discover Michael Franti. My mind is blown because I can now hear someone that I resonate with on my music journey. I Give Thanks to the Universe for my discovery of Michael Franti, his message and his podcast.
not so HUMAN
I was excited for this when I read this:
The FOLLOW YOUR HEART tour is about listening to the voice inside you, being your authentic self, and building community, so together we can let go, dance, celebrate life, hit the reset button and walk out feeling a little bit taller!!!
I was excited until I emailed the venue in Maine, closest to me regarding restrictions for your outdoor concert there on July 1.
Discrimination is what I got in reply to my inquiry. I have been "following my heart", DEEPLY listening to the voice inside me (for all of my adult life actually), building community...but looks like doing so at concerts is still not an option for an individual like me.
We have been starving for live shows by artists we love....starving to do what is in orange above, with one of my favorite artists and all of the beautiful people who attend...I have been at a few shows where you have pulled me and my daughters up on stage, hugged us, danced with us, and never for a second did I ever think you would want to not be near anyone in the HUMAN race. I'm deeply saddened to see that you're not actually doing what your statement says.
I have wonderful memories of your shows and the fun times my daughters and I had together at them.
I wish you blessings and peace and love, AND I wish for you to open your heart and mind to EVERYONE. You stand for freedom and love and inclusion. Or do you?
