Granite Hope Veteran's Coalition with Bill Matcalfe
I spoke with U.S. Army Veteran Bill Metcalfe about the Granite Hope Veteran's Coalition.
The New Hampshire Department of Military Affairs and Veteran Services (DMAVS) has funded the Partnership for Public Health to promote Veteran suicide prevention state-wide. The Partnership for Public Health is seeking host sites to facilitate community coalition building to address this need. Technical assistance and subject matter expertise will be provided from the Manchester VA Medical Center's suicide prevention program and the Lakes Region Veterans Coalition.
The objective: Is to increase mental health supports and decrease social isolation for service members, veterans and their families (SMVF) in the State of New Hampshire.
We are working on setting up a suicide prevention and intervention training called ASIST in March. We have also done some outreach activities again to address the issue of social isolation. Did an event in Claremont and will be doing one in Lebanon in April.
