    The Weekend away - I Just Needed to Switch Off.

    After being told I was in remission, life was supposed to be getting back to normal. But something inside me just felt unsettled. I needed to switch off from everything, so instead of going camping with friends, I hooked up the van and headed off on my own. I spent one night at Rollingstone Van Park north of Townsville, followed by two nights at Mission Beach, walking along the beach, trying to collect my thoughts and reset. Nikki, the kids and even my friends were concerned about me. Nathan called to check in, and I reassured him I was fine — I just needed some time alone. Looking back now, knowing what happened shortly afterwards, I can't help but wonder: was I simply mentally exhausted and trying to find myself again, or was something already happening that I didn't recognise? I still don't know the answer.

    The Words I'd been waiting for.

    After months of surgery, chemotherapy, high-dose methotrexate and radiation, the moment finally arrived. In this episode, I share what it was like waiting for my results, hearing the words "you're in remission," and the mixed emotions followed. We talk about gratitude, family, hope, and what life looked like when I finally believed or did i that the hardest chapter was behind me.

    The Final Step 3 weeks of Radiation

    After surgery, chemotherapy and high-dose methotrexate, one final hurdle remained—three weeks of radiation. In this episode, I take you through the daily routine of treatment, the incredible staff who helped me along the way, and the emotions of finally reaching the end of my first treatment plan. For the first time in months, I truly believed life was about to return to normal or was it. Theres even a bit of Golf involved that turned about to be not what i expected in a physical & mental way.

    The Treatment i never understood.

    After 8 rounds of Chemo in Mackay, i find myself back in Townsville for 2 rounds of high dose methotrexate, a treatment designed to reduce the risk of lymphoma reaching the brain. In this episode i share what it is really like spending days in hospital, being flooded with IV fluids, dragging an IV trolley through the corridors waiting for blood levels to fall & trying to understand a treatment that still leaves me with questions today. I also touch on a funny moment leading into radiation treatment. It's another raw & honest podcast of my journey.

    In this episode, I share what it was really like preparing for my very first chemotherapy treatment. From recovering after surgery to meeting my oncology team and hearing the treatment plan, the reality of the fight ahead started to sink in. I talk about walking into the chemo ward, sitting in the treatment chair with Nikki by my side, and watching the medication begin to flow. It was a day filled with fear, uncertainty, and hope—and one I'll never forget.

    The waiting is over. After receiving the diagnosis of Diffuse Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, everything changed. In this episode, i share what it was like telling my kids the truth, heading to Mackay hospital for surgery, the emotions of losing a testicle, and the reality of preparing for chemotherapy. It's a raw and honest look at the moment cancer stopped being a possibility and became our new reality.

    Who i am & why im doing this

    Welcome to the very first episode of Still Here. My name is Brad, and this podcast is the raw, unfiltered story of my journey through lymphoma, relapse, brain cancer involvement, and CAR T-cell therapy. Before cancer, I was a husband, a dad, a worker, and like most people, I was busy living life without ever imagining how quickly everything could change. In this episode, I introduce myself, share what life looked like before cancer entered the picture, and explain why I've decided to tell this story publicly. This isn't a podcast about medical expertise or motivational speeches. It's about the reality of facing cancer, the impact it has on family, the mental battles nobody sees, and the lessons I've learned along the way. Over the coming episodes, I'll take you through the diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, high-dose methotrexate, radiation treatment, remission, a devastating brain relapse, a life-changing car accident, and my ongoing journey through CAR T-cell therapy.
