Monday to Friday's "Stop Child Abuse Now" (SCAN) feature trauma informed HOSTs and Co-hosts and respected child abuse prevention, intervention and recovery advocates. They're all volunteers members of the National Association of Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (NAASCA), a 501(c)3.
Founded in 2009, NAASCA.org was originally a grassroots effort. It was launched based on our founder Bill Murray's personal life experienced. Bill wrote, "Very few adults escape years of severe childhood sexual abuse, pre-pubescent X-rated photography, sex trafficking, and a two week long kidnapping." He continued. "But I have, and for some 35 years I've been in recovery from its devastating effects."
After years of operating as a grassroots effort, NAASCA became a public charity in 2015 .. a 501(c)3 .. but we receive no grants or outside support, and belong to no other organization. There are no dues or fees.
Our MISSION is entirely self-sustaining through the volunteer contributions of our members.
The single purpose is to address issues related to childhood abuse and trauma including sexual assault, violent or physical abuse, emotional traumas and neglect from two specific perspectives: 1) educating the public, and 2) offering hope for healing and services to adult survivors.
There are now nearly 3000 BlogTalkRadio shows, podcasts in the ever-growing library.
Join us five-nights-a-week (Mon to Fri), at 8pm EST (so 7pm CEN, 6pm MTN, 5pm PAC) for solution-oriented discussions about the many issues of child abuse and trauma. The shows always include panel discussions and call-in participation.

We'll feature a survivor-professional co-host who'll field topics brought to the episode by you, the listener. ~~ Tonight the special co-host is Pastor Deborah Schleich, who grew up all over the world in a military family where her mother was mentally ill, and is now a survivor-professional. Living in Pensacola, Florida, she's trained in ministry, mental health, working with substance abuse and is a trauma informed social worker .. all in one! She volunteers with many community organizations. Pastor Deborah says she ".. can minister by text, phone, Skype, in person and however the Lord directs her, 24/7." She teaches that humans have three parts, being of spirit, soul and the physical body, and believes that all 3 are important .. and that each area needs care. We look forward to Pastor Deborah being an active member of the NAASCA family for a long time! ~~ On these episodes we welcome various co-hosts, and survivor-professionals who'll assist in fielding questions and lead a variety of topics suggested by our call-in participants. Tonight’s special guest is Victoria Valentino from California. Ms. Valentino was an acting student in New York’s American Theatre Wing. Born in Hollywood during WWII, she was raised in Connecticut. When she became Playboy’s Miss September 1963, it radically redirected her life and career. She was a multi-rape, child, and domestic abuse and sex trafficking survivor by the age of 21. As a struggling single mother to a racially mixed son, she became an actress, a Go-Go dancer, folksinger- songwriter to make ends meet. She opened the first Playboy Club on the Sunset Strip on New Year’s Eve 1964. In 1969 on the day she was celebrating her recording contract with Capitol Records, her six-year-old son drowned in her music attorney’s swimming pool in the Hollywood Hills. Several weeks later, she was drugged, kidnapped, and raped by Bill Cosby. Victoria became a Registered Nurse and specialized in Home Hospice; Ms. Valentino has been in many magazines and news articles. Today she lives in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains with her dogs and a big orange cat. She's a keynote speaker, sexual assault activist, and mentor to survivors of rape and sexual assault. Accepting many awards. She looks forward to more crocheting, gardening, cooking gumbo, spending time with her six grandchildren, and just maybe, writing her next book. Ms. Valentino is quoted as saying, “I feel as though I’m just beginning to live my real life.” Everyone is invited to engage in tonight's show. Perfect
I have been looking for resources on this topic as I myself was a victim of severe child abuse while in the Texas foster care system and also after I was adopted. I’m so happy to find that they also have recovery groups 3 times a week. I’ve yet to attend one, but have marked them all in my calendar and actually can’t wait for the first meeting. I read a post on their blog/website and it was very informative and helped me learn a lot about myself and why I am the way that I am. So glad to have stumbled across this.
